BeauBeau: This is transparent acrylic protractor with mirror back (bottom) surface and printed white grid on top surface. Mirror makes it quite easy to use the tool. Instructions for the use are printed on the backside.
All in all, I find the tool of good quality, and the price was excellent.

Denis Roy: Too much info requested... Too much time... If you want reviews, stop asking for too much !

Julien: It's a bit of a pain to use because it's reflectorized. That makes it hard to see if the cartridge is lining up correctly. Other than that it's fine and works as intended.

Devin Brown: I bought this to do my first cartridge install. The instructions on back are little vague. Ended up doing some googling to figure out the correct procedure. However, once i figured out how to properly use it, it works well. I had my alignment checked by a professional with an expensive 3 axis alignment tool and he said it was bang on. So based on that I can honestly say this is accurate if used correctly.

GenevaGirl: Replaced an old cartridge, so wanted something like this. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it’s basic, it works, the mirrored surface seemed to really help, it was easy… I wasn’t sure if I quite used it right, aligned things “good enough” - but for high audio quality digitization I’d embarked on, the new cartridge sounded markedly clearer, better. That is to say, I payed unusually detailed attention to the results (including spectral analysis tools), and it seems this simple tool really is “good enough” that the result is impeccable sound. I’ll take it! It sits on my turntable now, in the back corner - a permanent member of my equipment.

Matt S.: This tool simplifies cartridge alignment. The grid markings appear to be Baerwald alignment. Once the cartridge overhang is adjusted, the grid on the protractor helps align cartridge at the two grids. The mirror guides the true vertical setting (cartridge on headshell rotation alignment with reflection). The instructions seem to have been written for users with adequate experience with cartridge alignment. The last step of the instruction calls for moving the cartridge forward or backward and twisting. This would actually be a lot of guess work without a proper overhang preset. Knowing the turntable manufacturer's specified overhang distance would be a prerequisite. The thickness of this protractor closely resembles the thickness of a LP vinyl record. This works much better than thin card type of protractor which often requires putting a LP under the card to lift it higher and closer to the stylus. Good tool to have for vinyl enthusiasts.

Weezill: I switch cartridges pretty frequently to do A/B comparisons, and this little protractor is, for me, a lot easier than printing out an alignment protractor every time. Not only that, it's also a lot sturdier than a piece of paper.
I read the reviews prior to buying this and I don't understand some people's confusion about the mirror and/or their difficulty in seeing the lines. As long as you're looking straight down onto your turntable (like you're supposed to do) I can't see anyone having trouble with this.

Rick Whitmore: First the mirror both helps and hurts you. It helps by getting you lined up. It hurts you for stylus alignment. The lines reflect in the mirror. Thus you have to be right over the cartridge. I had a paper card that came with the turntable years ago that did the same thing. Using this tool comfirmed that my cartridge alignment was perfect. Cartridge alignment is very important for sound quality. I am converting my albums to CD. And the playback is amaizing. I recomend it because it is of good quality and it works. Four stars because it is not the easiest to use with old eyes.
