George: The first thing is this filter is very quite. Even on the third fastest setting, the noise just blends into the background. I am not sure how they accomplished this but it is very quite. The filter works great and the upgraded charcoal filter cartridge removes unwanted smells, such as smoke, very well. Easy to operate, simple to change the filter with no tools, and very slim which allows it to fit up against a wall out of the way. I love the finish options and the front cover is very stylish even though it is plastic you would never know by looking. Best of all it captures dust, bacteria, pet dander, pollen and viruses. Best of all it eliminates smoke odors. I am very happy with this purchase.

blue_cheese_is_good: We’ve been using this for a year now, we bought it to go into our newborn daughters bedroom since we live in an old home. It’s very quiet and runs smoothly, we have yet to get a warning to replace the filter and this is after over a year of daily nightly use. The outer layer filter is easy to vacuum/ clean off since it gets dust build up. We purchased this in 2021 for $379 CDN plus tax. I’m a bit shocked to see how much the price has increased ($798CDN). It’s a great air purifier but I wouldn’t purchase it at the current price.

SuMo: I knew of this brand from when I lived in the US, and thought the price was a good deal. I eventually bought two units due to severe dust allergies. The units are bulky and came with two separate power cords, one for the UK and one for EU. The EU cords ones were useless and were thrown away, so environmentally unsound. The units are noisy at the higher speeds, and truth be told work no better than two tower units I previously had. The filter indicator does not work properly as it remained green even though I could tell the filters needed to be changed. Now the best part, I went to order the replacement filters and they are nowhere to be found in the UK. I was beyond frustrated. I wrote to Alen in the US to be told that their auto ship filter service does not ship to the UK and to find some on Amazon US or eBay. I did find some off market ones on Amazon US and they work great, but with the cost, plus shipping, and now the issues with the economy, this will not be feasible. I bought these filters to have the units running whilst I source a reliable brand that has filters widely available in the UK. For context, I had been having worsening asthma and allergy attacks over the past few months, to the point where my asthma went from being predominantly exercise or allergy induced to recurring several times a day. After a trip to an asthma and allergy specialist and receiving a full allergy test, I was told that I was allergic to almost everything (every tree, grass and weed, dust mites, cockroaches, cats, dogs, etc. plus other food and miscellaneous allergies). I already knew I was allergic to all of those things but the doctor confirmed that I was on the "severe" end of the scale and I was advised to get rid of our cats and get an air purifier.

As most cat owners know, getting rid of a beloved cat would be like throwing your child out on to the street, so the cats had to stay even if it meant using inhalers twice a day, popping allergy medication daily and maybe just banning the cats from the bed and wardrobe. But we knew we would need a GREAT air purifier to help with all the allergens coming from our furry friends and everything...

Aliza Hausman: The media could not be loaded.  I am so allergic to dust that if the power goes out in my home, I need to go sit outside until it comes back on and all the air purifiers in my home come back online. Over the years, I have collected quite a collection of air purifiers as we’ve moved from smaller to bigger homes and my allergies have turned into full-blown allergic asthma requiring weekly then monthly shots and daily medication consisting of both pills and inhalers. I buy exclusively from two brands, IQAir and Alen having given up on Blueair altogether in favor of Alen.

I own (2) IQAir HealthPro air purifiers and (1) IQAir HealthPro Compact, which I use in our two bedrooms and our living room. Our home has an open layout with a lot of room to cover and so we use a Alen BreatheSmart in our kitchen (with the handy HEPA-OdorCell filter), another in our main room of our back house. I also own (2) Alen T500s, which we use in our back house bedroom and for travel, one of which I received from Alen to test and keep. Vistors are often shocked by the amazing air quality in our home. It's fresher inside than the great outdoors of Los Angeles.
