Jacki: I'd like to thank the author for this moving memoir of her triumph over abuse. I admire the way Maria was able to forgive and even thank some of the people who abused her and/or blamed her for the abuse and/or neglected to defend or rescue her. She is truly a strong and loving human being and deserves all the love, joy and beauty she has gained in her life and more! I think this book will help readers see that forgiveness and love are possible, even after an horrific childhood! Thank you for writing this book, Maria.

Carol A Ranney: After all the author went through-- neglect, abuse, rape and being beaten down psychologically, she became an adult with compassion, forgiveness and understanding for her family and those around her.
(Proofreading would improve the flow of the narrative).

Amanda Johnston: I love a memoir where it feels like someone is bringing you into their world and you become their friend as they recant their life story. Initially I was bothered some by the horrible things that happened and that it was from more recent times and not distant like 1800s. It is sad that in 50s, 60, 70s someone would go through what this author did. I myself am also a product of rape child that did not have the best childhood and will have to decide to forgive or not those that were not always kind to me. So the book resonated on multiple levels. I loved seeing that she went on to live a productive but happy life. Great book!

Read2Relax: The story was a heart breaking, tragic tale of a little girl denied of love from her mother and the unwanted advances of her employer and uncle. Determined not to let this destroy her, she set herself goals and slowly achieved them and in so doing found some much needed happiness. Not knowing about her father nagged her until she resolved to find out and so doing rekindled her mother’s love.
Without labouring on the cruelty and harshness of her early life, this book touched a lot of emotions. At times the author sounded too good to be true, but how can you write about the determination and resolve someone has through adversity? It showed her resilience and determination throughout. It featured discussions of her faith in God, which may not feel comfortable for every reader, but enforced her determination to succeed and finally gain closure for herself.
I read this through kindle unlimited and am leaving this review voluntarily.

PR Vegan Chick: The writing wasn’t that great but the story was very compelling and I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I found myself crying and laughing. Some people get stronger at their broken places and this woman is an example of that.
