NMMo: This is the first bait caster I've ever owned. Set it up the first time with monofilament and learned real fast it doesn't work. Replaced it with some braided line and it works much better.
It doesn't cast as far, and i need a bit more weight to get an accurate cast. These could be known things or maybe just beginner issues.
I'll give it another season while I look out for a new reel.

Sutton: I wanted to get into baitcasting, but I didn't feel like spending 300+ on a combo to start out with, but after looking at all of the pre-made combos at all of the various big name sporting stores I was always disappointed with some aspect or feature within the price range that I was looking (around 100 dollars). I decided to look into building my own. I already knew what rod I was going to use - a Berkley Cherrywood -as recommended by a friend as the best budget rod he has used, so I just needed to find a decent reel.

There are not very many good reels in the 50-100 dollar price range. Most of the stuff for 50 or less is of the same quality most budget combos come with, and the once you go over 100 you start to get into the nice reels. I could and was going to just bite the bullet and spend over 100 dollars until I cam across this reel. It's very smooth and quiet, the tension and drag have nice click adjustments, and the brakes are effective. It fit's nicely in my hand and is just light enough that it isn't cumbersome.

Are there better reels out there? Absolutely. For this price? No.

DUET REMY: Aucun problème avec ce moulinet. J'ai regardé c'est le meilleur moulinet "amateur" pour la peche du carnassier, j'ai couplé avec une canne abu garcia blanche 20grs 60 grs issue de la même gamme. l'ensemble est très jolie

J. E. Tobey: I really like this reel. With 60 years of classic Abu-garcias with the cylindrical format, this is refreshing. The Lew's Speed Spool has always been my preferred casting reel, I have always had those classics too, in several sizes.I don't think there is any reason to doubt the composite construction . I have been around sophisticated race car that rely upon carbpn/glass blends and they are lifesavers. One fine aspect of this reel is the ability to finely adjust in fine increments. They can be felt and observed while held in hand. Even when putting some power into a cast the risk of backlash is minimal. I have a $350 Calcutta that requires more attention and, thus, fewer cold beers !

Lou1100: This is a great reel. Especially for the price. As good as my 170$ Lews and Quantums. I won't be wasting that extra money again. Super smooth, great casting and superb drag. Only dislike is the short handle but that can be replaced for a few bucks but not really necessary. After a little use I'm getting used to it. Wish they were available in a couple more gear ratios. One faster and one slower. They are 29 inches per turn and I really REALLY wish it also came in a 25 or 26 and a32!!

simtsosimtso: The reel is smooth and is easy to operate. This is not the first time using a baitcaster. I own quite a few. Reason for return I ordered a left hand retrieve instead of right.
