Hugh52: I was so looking forward to making my favourite curried soup with these lentils, and they proved to be old, tough and bitter. I'll be going back to grocery store lentils—I had much better luck with their quality.

Making it up as I go along: These lentils should be in everyones rotation. They have so much more flavor than regular lentils of any color. They are earthy, with a hint of floral sweetness. I cook them with chicken stock, but whatever floats your boat. They are great in soups, as lentil cakes, in wraps, side dish, hot dish, it goes on. Lots of options. They are only limited by your imagination. One of my leftover go to's is a lentil cake pan fried in bacon fat, topped with cheese, sour cream, avacodo, hot sauce, and an over medium egg. Any crazy make em up's will be one for the record.
