Alex: This is a light-duty vise, so temper your expectations in the same way you would if buying the least expensive angle grinder or belt sander from Harbor Freight.

It's a great value, seems to be well-built, and clamps down evenly. The blue paint finish is a bit sloppy, but again, you can't argue with the price if you're just needing to hold something steady for a little quick work.

I bolted mine down to some scrap wood planks and then clamped the planks to my work bench so I can easily take it off and maneuver it where I need it. And since I'm not using it all the time, it being a smaller vise means it's that much easier to set aside, out of the way of my main work area.

Who knows how it'll hold up in the future, but for now she's looking good!

I. BuyTooMuchOnAmazon: For me this is perfect for what I need: light duty and some metal bending/shaping. It was smaller than expected - but that was just me, not anything in the product description. It’s working great and was easy to install. Only minor grip is the template to drill the mounting holes said: “not drawn to scale”… well, that went right in the trash and didn’t check if it was correct. Really don’t need it. I used 3/8” bolts (vendor recommended) to mount, but I think 7/16”would be the best fit. 1/2” def too big. As for not shipping with mounting bolts, I’m totally good with that - sizes I used undoubtedly would not have shipped with it anyway

Being able to almost rotate the vise 360 degrees is nice too

Consumer's voiceConsumer's voice: It's ok, as long as you don't get your knuckles caught when loosening the vise. The handle is too short and the design is such that it's really easy to hurt yourself. First I got my knuckle bruised, then my 5 year old did the same before I could warn her. I think I'll be grinding those sharp corners off.

Tyler: Great quality so far. Mine didn’t have any casting defects like some people have had trouble with. It is slightly smaller than what most people think of when they think of grandpas vice, but it’s plenty big enough for smaller projects.

greg t: After a bit of research I found this vise to be very well priced for the quality. When I received it I was pleased with the feel and smoothness of the moving parts. I would have given it 5 stars if the jaws were set back from the base a little more to allow longer stock to hang down and clear the edge of the table. Of course you can swivel the vise but sometimes you need to use it straight for certain purposes.

Eric: It is a great little vice for your average home owner. It holds small items and does most things most people could ask of it. 4.5/5 on that part.

That being said it does have some issues. There is a lot of slack and excessive slop in the parts. On my unit the threaded hole for the screw rod seems to be very large and when tightening it down it feels like it is going to slip. It is not smooth at all. This lowered the overall score to 3/5.

But honestly, it is a $30 so what would you expect? That is why I said great for the average home owner. If you are a more demanding user you might want to shell out the cash for a better unit that will likely hold up much better.

This vice is in the Top 5 vises in the market today!
I wanted a vise for my electronics workbench but all the vises I had seen where either aluminium and low quality or very small for the usage I wanted. Plus they were equipped to be attached on a bench with the help of a screw pad and OMG very expensive to buy too..
In my work I can use it as a holder to solder a connector or to hold an enclosure box for drilling..
Because I've worked with a couple of vises before I had always problem with stabilization of the vise.
Therefor I decided to go with a heavy-duty vise like this one.
And on this age of cheapness that surrounds us nowadays (where almost everything is plastic or the lowest quality metal and sometimes its even plastic painted like metal), I've never expect to find a heave-duty professional vise especially on this prize! Just $40 bucks.
I've got to tell you that not only its amazing, never moves on the bench no matter what work I do on it (I mean its 5 Kg) but also it has an awesome holder that can be used on light and tough work as well. You don't have to tight it strong to hold whatever you're working with.
