J Wee: It’s strong and fast, great machine. But I’m picky about the texture of the ice and this is not fine enough for me. There are small lumps of ice in the shaved ice.

Jim: Icee ! My wife loves them, but the machines aren’t easy to use or make. At least unless you have this machine! So here is how you make an ICEE. I purchased cola syrup from Amazon. Fill an EMPTY two liter bottle of coke with syrup to the 1st line on the bottom of the two liter bottle, and fill the rest with water. Shake to mix the syrup and water, then pour it into small cups and freeze them in the freezer. Once frozen, run warm water on the outside of the cup to loosen the frozen solution from the cup. Drop the frozen solution block into the snow cone machine and grind it up into the stainless bowl. Once the ground up syrup block is ground up in the bowl. Shovel the shavings of the syrup ice into a cup and pour cola into the frozen syrup shavings. You just made an icee ! 😊 Unplug the snow cone machine and Rinse the opening of the snow cone machine with water from the sprayer from the sink to clean, and dry with a cloth. WATCH YOUR FINGERS SO THAT YOU WON’T CUT YOURSELF WHEN DRYING WITH THE CLOTH. It’s a wonderful machine.

Alemore: This machine is incredibly strong. It absolutely has an industrial feel to it. It feels solid and chops through ice easily. The resulting ice is comparable to snow and of a very even consistency. It is supplied with a very nice bowl, extra knives and the hex key to replace them.
However, on the downside, it arrived wiped clean but upon inspection, industrial oil covered the internal surfaces where the ice is shaved. The motor is not wash-down (water resistant or water proof) so has to be protected when cleaning. Given the size of the unit, it is difficult to clean all the internal crevices. Also, the internal portion of the machine where the motor shaft connects to the knives has ledges that are difficult to reach and clean correctly.
Upon initial use, it immitted a heavy industrial smell that lingered throughout the first floor where it was used. Some of the ice showed signs of the oil which prompted me to re-clean the machine. I think that the first few batches of ice should be discarded to ensure the ice is not contaminated. By first few batches I mean that I would feed at least a 30lb bag of ice through the machine before being comfortable using the shaved ice.
