Robb Stutzer: It does a great job, at what it does. I figured that I was just buying a safe way to crush ice. It also wicks the moisture from the ice, so the shards of ice pour easily out of the bag. No clumping.

David Ellison: As in the title, we had a Kentucky Derby party with about 30 people. We used commercial bagged ice then this system to crush it. It was satisfying to use, it held up well, and the crushed ice one gets from this system is perfect. One bag of uncrushed commercial chunk ice was more than enough to fill glasses for our drinks. The bag is a heavy canvas. It does get wet with use but it held up well. It didn’t seem to add any taste or smell to the crushed ice, and the mallet is perfect. It takes a few strikes and the crushed ice is almost snow cone ready. We had the ingredients, the directions, and we let people crush their own ice for the drinks they made. People enjoyed this. I recommend it.

Jerry Bassett: I did a search on Amazon for 'ice crusher', and was immediately presented with rows of electrically powered ice crushers which is what I expected. What I didn't expect were this bag and mallet; really low tech that is as old as humans for $25, AND it doesn't take up counter space. I clicked 'buy', and I tried it when it showed within a day or two. I've learned that putting the ice cubes into a quart-size zip lock back before inserting it into the canvas bag works better than the cubes directly in the canvas; keeps the canvas dry(mostly) and the crushed ice is easier to remove from the zip lock.

Phil: Just to give you some idea, I used to use a dish rag and a rolling pin to crush ice and it was a miserable experience. You can damage the pin or rip the rag, or shoot ice everywhere and plain make a mess, afterwich you'll find your crushed ice fused to the rag. There had to be a better way, so I ordered this and its amazing. With an actual mallet, you can focus your force far better, its made of wood so it won't damage the canvas bag, which is very sturdy, the canvas absorbs the excess water, the ice dosent stick to it and it's sewn all around with a flap, so no mess. And if you want to save some leftover crushed ice, simply pop the bag in freezer, it'll keep your crushed ice loose and clean. I love this kit, I know you'll love it too.
