grauntywa: I have been watching the TV series so started to read the books. They are all loooong books but I have enjoyed them so far. They do hold the readers interest (at least this reader) although in places you flag a bit.

broodizt: Diana Galbadone is an amazing author. I simply cannot believe how gifted, bright and intuitive she is. This woman was a nurse, scientist, Professor, etc. Her vocabulary is second to none. And to top it off, she's gorgeous!!! This review is for all her Outlander books 1-8. Just finished Written in My Own Hearts Blood. As you can tell I am a Major fan of Diana's. Now that I have finished the series, I can sit back and think about what I've experienced as a reader and rabid fan of the books and TV show. First, again, I must say, she OWNS these books. It's as if she has channeled her characters from another dimension. They become a part of your Beta reality and they are INTENSE. Not only Claire and Jamie, but all the secondary characters as well (Fergus, Ian, Jenny, Murtagh, Master Raymand, St. Germain just to name a few, etc, etc, etc) , even the animals (Rollo, Clarence, the white Sow, Adso), all are distinct individuals and have personalities. You will never forget them. I perssonally have not had a problem with the rape themes that alot of her readers complained about. Yes there is this issue, and it is pretty much in every book, but her books are BIG, and they don't overwhelm the...

Amazon Customer: Like the other 7 books I enjoyed reading this book perhaps more than the previous one in the series. I like that it focused more on Jamie and Claire which to me is the most enjoyable part of the series. I just can’t seem to get enough of the 2 of them and their adventures and devotion to each other. It was also good to meet Hal Grey and watch him interact with Claire and the rest of the Frasers. Hal and his brother John have really grown on me and besides being honourable they appear to be more on the fun side and with a healthy sense of humour. I am hoping to meet them again in the next book and would like to see them interact more with he Fraser Clan. When William was introduced as an adult before, I did not find him all that interesting but in this book I found his character to be more interesting. He seems to have developed a bond with Claire and I am looking forward to seeing William and Bree meet again and will be interested to see how they relate to each other as brother and sister especially given that they grew up in different worlds and can also relate to one another in that they both grew up thinking that the men who raised them were their fathers only to have all...

tsukino: ATTENZIONE SPOILER

Resa: WARNING: SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS.
First, I loved Diana Gabaldon's newest installment in the Outlander series. I agreed with many people that Echo in the Bone wasn't her best work, but in Written in my Own Heart's Blood, she's back on her game. Yes, it's a complicated storyline with multiple characters and backstories, but they're intertwined well and compliment rather than compete with one another. I particularly liked that she gave a nod to some of her shorter fiction works (Leaf, Scottish Prisoner), yet it was subtle: A person who'd read those short selections would say, "Oh, yes -- now I see it from the other point of view", whereas a person who hadn't read those things wouldn't be lost. I was thrilled to see Young Ian's storyline; he's been through so much. And I loved him meeting "the Wurms". I had previously found William's journey through the Great Dismal to be dull as dirt, but -- like another poster here -- I found myself caring about him again. Same for Lord John, who isn't my favorite character, yet he did shine in this book. The ending with Jamie and Claire running down the hill was a wonderful way to end the lengthy tome . . . yet it is clearly an open...
