Jeff Wendland: I thought it was missing the antenna but all good my grandson walked off with it. 😅 super good scanner. Easy to program just what I was looking for. Highly recommend. Going to buy another one. Home and van. Love it.

Pam : I know most police and sheriff departments have gone to digital but the small town and county I’m in is still using analog. This scanner is exactly what I needed and it’s very easy to program and use. It can be used with 4AA batteries or plugged in an outlet and the reception is great! When using batteries they lasted about 2 weeks and I had it on pretty much 24/7. I highly recommend this scanner.

snaggy: It's an entry level scanner with limited analog features, and it performs well for what it is. 400 channels is alot of memory, and it has great loud audio and decent reception. The stock antenna is a bit lame however, and stiff at a.voard, so it concerns me it may break off at the connector if it was to bang up against something, so I'm ordering a more flexible one, and also am external one as indoor reception is not great, but that's the building not the scanners fault. Air band does not receive anything, as I'm told you must benvery close to the airport to receive anything.
This radio is sold under several brand names with the exact same internal guts, such as radio shack and others, so it's a very well known and popular radio. The only fault I can find with it is that it automatically rounds the frequency last digits up or down when you program it, for example it may change .162 to
150, and its a bit of a pain to enter the exact frequency you want to, bur it's doable.
I'm happy with the purchase, and give this scanner a good recommendation.

Matthew Rapaport: I gave this scanner four stars. It's pretty good for $75 or so. I have more powerful scanners, even hand-helds, but they are also much more expensive.

The good news is that the whistler is easy to learn to use. It is very fast, 40-stored channels per second, and 80 steps per second in search mode. It sips power, four AA batteries last a long time. I've run it four hours a day for over a week now and the low-battery indicator has not come on. The stock antenna is pretty good. I have third-party scanner antennas with BNC connectors, but they do not seem to do any better.

The scanner will pick up anything from the Amateur 10 meter band down (or up depending on your viewpoint) to the amateur and utility 70-centimeter band, so 29 Mhz to 540 Mhz.

The bad news is that there are many gaps in coverage. Some of this is forced on scanner manufacturers by the FCC, but oddly, even the amateur 220 Mhz band (1.25 meters in-between the 2-meter and 70-centimeter frequencies) band is not supported. This is probably my biggest gripe. The FM broadcast band (88-108 Mhz in the U.S.) is also not supported, but I have lots of radios covering these...

Johannsen: Couldn't get to grips with a Uniden ezy-33, thought I'd give this Whistler a go.
I only use scanners for marine and air, so having a button for each of these is a godsend.
Have had really good results near local harbour, where I never recived anything on the Uniden., same applies for airband.
Nice also to have a proper on/off volume control.

Well pleased with it.

Cliente de Amazon: Calidad. Y funcionalidad

Uneek156: June 9, 2018 - I purchased some used Bearcat scanners from ebay and compared the reception. The 1010 failed miserably. Whistler said they would replace the scanner so I sent it back. I received what is suppose to be a new one which had all my prior channels programmed in. It is just as bad if not worse than before. I'm giving up on this scanner. I've since purchased the TRX2 which works much better but way more money. I cannot recommend this scanner at all.

April 28, 2018, I sent my scanner into Whistler which cost me shipping. It is still under warranty so they replaced the antenna connection and the plug in. It now works again however it won't pick up anything beyond about a mile of the radio towers. I'm very disappointed in this scanner and will be looking at other scanners to replace this one.
Update: Changing my rating. The scanner started acting up last night. The squelch would not adjust down. Every Channel programmed in was as if the squelch was turned all the way up. It cleared up after a while but now I have very poor reception on most of the channels. I have multiple types of antennas but none of them help. I did contact Whistler on...
