Chrono: I love this tool. I don't understand the negative reviews. It gets plenty hot very quickly and makes quick work of burning through wood and plastic making it super useful. The possibilities are endless. I make sure to wipe it clean while using to keep the debris off using a thick cloth. Be careful not to burn yourself!

Clairicito: I bought it to cut 6mm Mylar stencils. The two hot knives were useless...I kept waiting for the tip to get hot enough and it never did; the shaft of the attachment just smoked for 15 minutes before I turned it off and changed the tip. Fortunately the brass tapered cone tip was just the ticket, and I quickly chugged along and finished a large intricate stencil in a few hours. My favorite tip is to put item to trace under a sheet of glass and Mylar on top. Then there is no need to retrace drawing onto the Mylar. I had a sheet of glass from a picture frame that had cracked - doesn’t have to be very large - you just move it around under the Mylar.

judith: Gets very hot! If you are not careful you can get burnt on the barrel. Otherwise it performed well. I used it to cut a stencil on window film. It turned out so well my son thought I had a new door installed! Looking forward to experimenting with all the other functions.

Lori: I bought this to make bin cages for my hamsters. Used the tool to cut holes in the plastic for the wire mesh. Worked like a charm! It melted right through the plastic and the plastic didn't crack at all. Made the job so much easier! I've used it to make five cages so far and it still works great. Would highly recommend!

Amazon Customer: stopped working after 30 minutes of use. Brought it for someone else so got the information late and couldn't return as per the 10 days policy.

aptwalker: I had a wood burning tool many years ago that made it a chore because it took so long. I realize now that it's because of the low wattage of that tool. When I started looking for something to cut stencils out of mylar I wanted a tool with the versatility to do more than one task. This one seemed like it would fit the bill.

I pulled it out for the first time two nights ago, and cut out three large stencils to use with my Gelli Plates for making gel prints. I thought the craft knife blade would be the tip to go with, but it was incredibly slow work. I switched to the thinnest brass tip that came with the set and it went very well after that. The point of the brass tip did curve a bit from the heat, but it doesn't affect the job at all. My one "complaint" is that you have to hold the tool near the cord, which makes it pretty far from the tip. That hinders precision somewhat, so I picked up a pair of welder's gloves from Amazon today that look like they will give the protection needed to hold the tool a bit closer to the tip. There are some pretty flexible gloves from the look of them that should do what is needed without being clumsy. I found a pair...
