Colinda: Losing weight is very difficult for some of us. I've gained weight (and quickly!) on a couple of diets (both a 1600-calorie diet and a low-glycemic diet), and the only one that worked for me was Atkins except that it made me ill. So I find that my middle-aged spread is just about impossible to lose and I feel a bit desperate.

I decided to give self-hypnosis a try and this one was highly rated. Since I have food allergies as well as a history of diet failures, I listened all the way through these CDs without going into a "trance." I found a couple of things that I was uncomfortable with. First of all, the speaker suggests that you like whole grains. As someone with allergies to wheat, corn, and millet, I don't want to introduce a craving for grains into my subconscious. It's hard enough staying away from those items as it is! Other suggestions made are that you love fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Persons with nut allergies will have a problem with this.

The subtitle for this recording is "Use the Power of Your Mind to Make Any Diet Work for You" but it is not really suited to low-carb, paleo, or grain-free diets since whole grains are suggested several...

C. L. Washington: After I first listened to this, or rather, part of it, I agreed with a negative review. I, today, thought that maybe I wasn't fair and I listened again. Unfortunately, my reaction is even more negative than when I first listened. First of all, I feel like I am receiving a lesson about hypnosis rather than a focus on leading me into trance. I thought, let's get on with it. It got worse for me, and when it got to the car and livingroom makeover, I had to again turn it off.
I have listened to several other CDs that accomplish the task in half an hour. You may trthink that listening to several CDs running 70 minutes each is better than half an hour, but the proof is in the pudding. I have lost 20 pounds, a pound a week, just as my doctor says I should. It's just not for me. I am too busy to spend hours listening to something that is not helpful to me.
Now, this is my opinion. Others will feel differently. I respect their evaluation.

Mrs. G. M. Mitchell: I am using this cd and for the first time in years I am losing weight. The doctor's voice is very mellow and easy to listen to. I am amazed it so inexpensive.

Linn Random: Steven Gurgevich's CD Self Hypnosis Diet is a magnificent addition to help you in your weight loss journey! Well worth the money! I was expecting one CD, not realizing I would get THREE. And each one of the three has multiple sessions on each one. The guided imagery is exquisite and the relaxation techniques are gentle; in fact I have to admit I've fallen asleep more than once but as the Dr. says, I've waken refreshed and invigorated when the session is over. I suddenly find myself making healthy food choices. Through the trance sessions, I have uncovered hidden origins that have made me weight loss resistant. Healthy food choices are not a struggle of will power anymore; I simply choose the healthier food options. I'm eating the right portions and am happy with my choices. I recommend this product; it's the missing link in your journey, it will change your attitude about food and give you a boost to a healthy new life. Spoiler Alert: You have to listen to it and commit to the process. Good luck with your journey. This is working for me!

Brian: I purchased this book with some initial reservations about hypnosis in general, and hypnosis for diet in specific. I read the first three chapters before beginning the hypnosis (something the book says to do, and that I fully agree with), then dove into the program. The first week was difficult for me: I had no idea whether I was 'under' or not; but I started losing weight after the second day. A little over a month later, I'm still using the hypnosis on a daily basis, I'm eating quite well, I'm down by eleven kilograms, and I'm still losing weight! I would not only recommend this for another Amazon customer, my wife (who is not a native speaker of English) is now using the program and is also having success.

John Herman: We all would like a simple way to lose weight, but this is one of the hardest things anyone who is over weight will tell you. When I read the first 3 chapters, as the authors suggest, before using the CD included, I liked the approach. Basically, forget Dieting, use your mind to change your eating patterns! For me, this is a worthwell purchase, as the Self Hypnosis seems to work ( at least for me). The authors also explain in the book how to go about creating your own "Trance" wording that will help you in approaching your own problems. Like chocolate, like other sweets, or whatever you crave for that throws you off of a diet. Not to give away too much, the CD says to think of the chocolate as having a hair, or any other discusting thing you have experienced at some time or other residing in it. So when you want a "treat", you approach it with a "Why Would I eat that!"its got a bug in it. It's surprising how fast you lose your appetite for the "treat"!!

juliejules: I admit I went to sleep listening to the entire thing (they say that is normal). But now that I know which tracks get to the beef, they are very good. They help to make you mindful (the book comes with a CD). The book is a bit boring but what is unique is it's not food plan and it's not quackery "you are getting sleepy" hypnosis. I put it on my IPOD and listen before bed. The net/net is that it makes you mindful during the day. It helped me give myself a Girl Scout cookie Samoa intervention (I normally eat pretty good but those Samoas are down right evil I tell you!). It worked. I heard about it from Dr. Mark Hyman's emails that I get (he is awesome as well) and Dr. Weil also did a plug on these guys. You do have to get past the corny parts "you can do it, yes you can" but it's worth it. I also like Belleruth Naparstek. Her voice is soothing and she has an entire series. So, if you are struggling or need adjusting, add this to your aresenal and just use it as time to relax. It may surprise you that it has some impact on your thinking (but I do recommend staying awake for tracks 6 & 7 where the real beef is).

Student of History: The book is clear and easy to read with interesting information. I would listen to the CD at night and kept falling asleep so I didn't remember what he said. It didn't matter because my unconscious mind heard it. I noticed immediately that many cravings have stopped. At night I remembered that I had a fruit popsicle in the freezer and was going to get it when my mind said "but you are not hungry". I took a moment and noticed that I was full and satisfied and did not get the popsicle and more important did not feel deprived. It was there and I chose not to eat it. I also came home from work and instead of snacking, I excercised to a a Taebo video. During excercising I noticed that I actually enjoyed it. I felt energized and felt good about how well I had followed the exercising routine. It has been only 4 days and I have lost 2 pounds already. I am confident that I am on on the right path.
