I'm very pleased thank you so much: I listen to his podcasts when I'm driving too and he has a couple of them where he reviews THIS book. Because the book is so thin one podcast can cover the basics but the book really does get into the detail. I have often agreed with what this author says "that everyone in life is looking to have THIS particular need met but sadly very few ever find that need being met because very few of us know how to meet the need in others." This book is a must have and I cannot stress it enough. If you have trouble making or keeping friends, or even if you don't, honing THIS skill which is so so simple and only takes a little bit of practice, will make ALL the difference for you. Plus your critical but basic need to truly be heard in a healthy way too will come right back at you as people listen to how you are doing it for them. Just can't recommend it enough. I am literally buying this book as gifts for others. A real easy and quick read. It's a keeper.

Thomas Lacey: WOW! Is the best explanation that I can give about this book. I had no idea the things that I did not know and how they could be affecting my relationships. This is an easy read and I probably will re-read it. I always thought I was a compassionate person until I read this book. I now know I have work to do.

Nathan: This book really opened my eyes. I thought I was doing all the right steps on listening to someone who is talking to me, but I was doing the opposite. This book has provided me the opportunity to learn more about emotions and how to process those emotions with myself and others. Even though this book is more about the relationship between someone else, I think it’s important to view the relationship with yourself. If I felt sad I would say, I feel sad because of these reasons. Or I am happy because of this event. By explaining the emotions and validating those emotions, I was able to be more emotionally connected. I was able to make a conscious effort on learning my emotions. Previously I would think I feel sad, but I sense I viewed sadness as a weakness; I would shut that emotion down. The book allows you to really open up with yourself. You must be willing to be comfortable with uncomfortable emotions.

LaRue: I felt frustrated because I wanted to apply this with my children and didn’t know how…Then I read chapter 3 where it states that parenthood may be an exception to the rule. Wish it had been an early statement, we’ll get to it but it’s later in the book kind of thing. Overall, really great easy step process. Practice Time!
