Amazon Customer: Very insightful makes you really think about why people do what they do. At time's characters seem to be a bit obtuse in their responses, but as a whole, the story is very believable. I rea enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend It to anyone who enjoys coming of age stories and reading about real-life situations .

Lori J: As Hyde develops characters, her deep insights into each gives the reader material to consider. Life is not linear. It is filled with emotions in each participant as they interact. She does an excellent work of portraying a family as they cope with circumstances that are made public through national media.

Shepherd Haven: This book is outside the normal genre (mysteries, action etc.) I usually read but regardless I enjoyed it very much. I thought when I saw the title "As Him Why", it might be a mystery with someone looking for the right answer. Yes, that is part of the equation near the end of the story but that the overall drive behind this book in fact is about family relationships and how they and those around will be effected by everyones' reactions. The story line starts out with a 15 year old girl, Ruth, finding her brother Joseph, a soldier, has returned home injured just after being shipped overseas 3 1/2 months earlier. The story is basically told by his two siblings Ruth and 10 year old brother Aubrey. I found myself drawn into the characters since they seem so real. This is one of the rare books that I had to highlight quotes from since so many of them were very significant and poignant to the tale. Joseph is AWOL and will be court-martialed. The resulting media paparazzi frenzy paparazzi about his cowardice whether true or not will make Joseph a pariah to those around him, including some family members.
