KB: Heavy, sturdy seeming. At least the stand, poker, and log grabber are. The shovel? Not as much so, though it'll probably do the job. The brush is a joke. 3 stars for it.

As an aside - if you love electrostatic styrofoam dust, you're going to LOVE the packaging. This was perhaps the worst packaged item I've seen in my life. I get that the styrofoam is needed to keep the heavy sharp points from poking through the box, but in this case, mission failed. The box arrived with holes all over the place and spewing styrofoam bits everywhere. Have your vacuum read when you open, chasing the styrofoam everywhere will keep you busy for an hour! Enjoy!

Katie McKee: Great feel and weight. This is a sturdy tool set. I have no complaints with the poker or log "grabber". The other two tools, however, were disappointing. The brush is completely worthless and is only good for aesthetics. The bristles will fall out just by touching them. I never even tried actually using it because I knew it'd just ruin it. The really disappointing issue is the shovel. I was scooping some ash out of my stove while there were still some remaining coals and the paint on the shovel head LIT ON FIRE! I held it in the stove and turned it to make sure it burned all of the paint off but I couldn't believe that it actually lit on fire. Once the paint is all gone it still looks and works fine, but it sure stunk up the house with the burning paint. Fortunately the paint was only on the shovel head, so the fire stopped with that and didnt' go up the handle.

Alex: This was my selection after reviewing 100 possible purchases. What sold me were some of the previous reviews and the description of the product. This is definitely a hevay duty set and it looks great by my fireplace. I thought the one I currently had was a heavy duty set. Actually it looks very similar to my old set but 4.5 lbs heavier over all. I moved my lighter set to my living room fireplace and use the new one in the family room. It's nicely attractive and will last decades. Don't hesitate to buy this set if you're looking for a sturdy yet heavier fireplace tool set. Otherwise stick to the 20lb sets.

PAfiddler: This is a "serious" fireplace set. Very substantial, decorative and solidly made, my wife thought it a little too substantial for our fireplace. On the other hand I like it because though heavier, it probably isn't going to bend or break any time soon (the only exception is possibly the "shovel" implement which is only connected with a couple of rivets - but if that breaks I can fix it). It's on the "bigger" side compared to many sets, so if you only have a tiny fireplace it may seem out of place. There were a couple small burrs on it so you may need to check the pieces over a bit - but that's just a little spot sanding or grinding - it'll take a whole five minutes to rectify. I think this set will out last me and the price was a pleasant surprise especially compared to some of the flimsy implements viewed elsewhere.
Bottom line: I like it and would give it a five star but the wife isn't as enthralled - so consider it a four and a half star item.
