Rachael Phelps: I think this book poses a lot of questions that teachers of modern classrooms need to consider when setting up how they plan to respond and build relationships with students. All educators need to have a trauma informed approach with empathy and I think this book helps us think critically about what that looks like as individual teachers.

Alexandria Stanek: Honestly, a pretty good read. I wouldn't have read this if it wasn't required for my college course but I'm glad I did. I dislike young children but this book helped me get a better understanding on how to interact with them if I ever have to.

Amber Wineinger: This is a wonderful read to help build relationships with your students!

I would like to adapt this and do with teachers. But using, “I wish my principal knew…”

Sasha Lawrence: I really did enjoy this book, however, I could only give it three stars because the information inside was not entirely different from many other education and teaching books I have read. I am a high school teacher and have read MANY books on pedagogy, student needs (that go far beyond what we think), and teaching practices and strategies. While this truly is a good book and it started from a wonderful place, I found a lot of the content to be repetitive and not really unique from other books on the same topic.

DG: I'm still reading the book and it has given me a different outlook on some things. Obviously it is an American author so the data is based on schools in America but still relatable.

CD: This book should be read not only by educators, that's a given, but parents too, whether your child is flying through school engaged, or needs help to reach their potential. Having an awareness of what good teaching looks like and the struggles our children's peers may be going through not only put our own children's experiences and education into perspective but our own opinions, labels and perceptions too.

Mephis1: Haven't finished this yet but tbh it had me in tears thinking about the lives some of our kids lead. There's a lot of statistics stuff but I just skim over that and a bit too much Goverment Office for this and State Office for that.... I was expecting a book full of examples from students (maybe like an FML book) but for my taste there hasn't been enough of this.
