Meldabird: I've read many biographies and they seem to follow a pattern where you either come away loving the person, disliking the person or just indifferent. I'm truly happy to say that I came away LOVING Tiffany Haddish.

I never really cared for her too much as she came across as a loud mouth comedian, but in retrospect when reading her biography I found her to be an honest, funny, amusing and just all round awesome human being.

Thank you Tiffany for sharing your journey. It was appreciated.

Judi: Didn’t really know much about Tiffany except as a comedian before reading this book. This book lays out her whole life and the depth with which she shares is profound. Tiffany, life has been so very hard on you but you show that it is possible to find the good in horrible situations ( lemons into lemonade). You show that you can improve your life situation with hard work, determination and faith, and that you can have a positive impact on others through sharing your life story. Thank you so much for writing this book and sharing you with us.

Snapdragon: Tiffany couldn’t have had a worse start if she’d booked one. Mother, father, foster care, ward of the state, grandmother who turfed her out at 18; unreliable, cheating pimp of a boyfriend; violent abusive husband; colleagues who won’t give her gigs unless she opens her legs … it’s actually dead awful. Yet it’s not a bleak book because of her irrepressible spirit. She negotiated a paying gig as a mascot with her high school principal. She worked as an energy hyper, getting Bar Mitzvahs going with fun and dancing (which was lethal on one occasion). At one comedy gig she went all ghetto on a heckler, seriously threatening to beat the woman up (but she didn’t have to because some Samoan chicks did it for her). She knows how to arc up, and the story of how she got vengeance on her boyfriend is classic. She also has insight into why she loves the stage and why she keeps picking the wrong men. Now in her forties you get the impression that she’s grown a lot and is thoroughly professional but she makes no bones about the fact that racism, sexism and simple users are all out there. The Black language is really enjoyable - it’s a lot more vivid than the way white people...

Fanny: This is a very humbling read. I get that people see “Tiffany Haddish” and expect this book to be so hilarious they will wet themselves from start to end (and don’t get me wrong, you will laugh out loud at many anecdotes!) but not unlike the most successful comedians in history, Haddish has developed her superb sense of humour as a way to defend herself psychologically, emotionally and physically from very precarious situations. This memoir recounts some of the traumatic events in her life that have shaped Tiffany Haddish into the extraordinary woman and performer she is today.

I see a lot of people who have given this book a poor review because it addresses dark subjects that doesn’t make THEM laugh and to them I say “shame on you!” This is not advertised as a work of fiction and no one on earth should feel so entitled as to believe they can dictate the terms on which someone else is allowed to talk about their own life story. If you were truly interested in Tiffany Haddish as a human being, you would appreciate the honour of being told these stories AT ALL! If you merely think of here as a character then watch her movies.

People are not only who you want...

JAYR: I read a lot of reviews and some people complained about the profanity and the grammatical errors. LOL, you are reading a Tiffany Haddish book, what do you expect? She curses a lot and the grammatical errors are not really errors if that's how she speaks in her daily life. She keeps the verbiage true to how she really is and I appreciated that. It made the book even funnier to be able to read her story and to picture her having a conversation with another person while using her own words, ebonics, slang, profanity, and all. The way the book is written, the dialogue, and the grammar are purposeful in my opinion. Is it vulgar at times? Yes, but she is keeping it real and I don't think she should change that now. There are times of course that a person has to show some decorum but in her private life, I don't see why she needs to change that. I grew up in New York so I am familiar with how blacks and Latinos speak and this does not make us less intelligent than anyone else. This is just a way of life when you grow up inner city or in "the ghetto" and I say that proudly. There is no shame in growing up poor either if you work hard to better yourself. Aside from that, the book is great...

Passionate Book Reader: Tiffany Haddish is the first celebrity to write a book while her star continues to rise. From my experience from reading many celebrity memoirs, most of them write their life stories when their careers are on the tail end or a crisis has happened. Not so with Tiffany, "SHE READY!" and she is ready NOW! To do what? To show the world who she is, who she has been, and what she hopes to be moving forward... and no doubt to cash-in while her star is HOT!

As I read this memoir, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Tiffany is krazy with a "K." The way the book is written it's definitely ADHD status (no pun attended), but it jumps around a lot, but it's PERFECT! Why? Because it works! It fits Tiffany's personality! If it were written any other way it would not come across as authentic. I can tell Tiffany meant for it to be funny, but at other times, some things that occurred in her life was no laughing matter. For instance, having an absentee father and a mother with a mental illness is a lonely world for a girl to grow up in. In addition to the emotional and mental neglect was the repeated physical abuse she endured by her mother and husband, and even from the kids in foster...

Anjanette B.: Back in June, I heard her 1 hour interview with The Breakfast Club. It was the first time I basically heard her speak on the things she had been thru in her life. I was blown away - to hear her talk about her pain & struggle in such a matter of fact yet hysterically funny way. At first I thought she was joking until I saw her wiping the tears away.

Then Girls Trip came out and she started doing the press junkets for the movie. I could not stop laughing when she appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel show and told the story about taking Will Smith & Jada Pinkett-Smith on a swamp tour.

Then she started her press tour for the book. I decided to make the purchase on Thursday, Dec 7th. It arrived Friday afternoon (wasn’t supposed to be here until Saturday - thanks for that Amazon!). I watched her “The Daily Show” interview on Thursday evening and fell out laughing and started reading a little bit of the book. I started reading the rest of it (today) Saturday morning (and found myself reading it in Tiffany’s voice). It’s incredible that with all the negative experiences she’s encountered (beginning at a young age) that she’s even still here. By the time I...
