BenwenWoo: This was an enjoyable read. Was like sitting with a girlfriend chatting. She uses humor and real life stories that I would think many can relate too… great ideas such as journaling, list making and more to help cope with the various challenges of life.

Lightburster: I was expecting empowerment but I ended up disliking the author's voice - it seemed a bit self absorbed. I downloaded this to read on the train but abandoned it about 2 chapters in, and looked out of the window instead.
Sorry but not for me

Jonathan: Tara writes from the heart. The book shares both very personal and intimate details of her childhood struggle combined with a compendium of ways to overcome them. The results are engaging and practical. She paints a colourful picture of describing ways one should love oneself, describes her solo dinner playing Ella Fitzgerald, the way she adds small things to her bath to treat herself, provides specifically journaling guidance which combines both personal details and the best advice found in things like the Artists' Way. She seems to have a photographic memory of her childhhood and shares endless pain from how she became embarrassed about her body, and the painful results of herr upbringing. It's even more powerful knowing how she succeeded so well in the television industry with all of this stuff lurking beneath the surface. The book combines intimate sharing, self-help and observations of herself as a work in progress.

JLH: I'm typically not a fan of the "self-help" books. However, I've lover this one. Personable, highly relatable, and practical. It doesn't shove advice down your throat, but instead, gives you humorous and real experiences of the author, along with things she's tried. I've been working my way through this while reading my other, fiction, books. Really, really recommend.
