Why didn’t he join his mama or sisters instead of doing naughty things. Why is Mr. M not in big trouble for hurting their father… on and on questions I could not answer to her liking. Tara AndersonTara Anderson: I love this oversized colouring book. I would happily pay a little more for thicker paper with a bit of tooth. The paper is a bit slippery. I like that the lines are a light grey half tone. If the paper quality were slightly better it would allow for more rendering. I Highly reccomend this if you are looking for something challenging that is easy to see! So many adult colouring books have tiny illustrations that are not enjoyable to colour. I hope Applesauce press makes all of Charles Sandore's versions of B. Potter's books available in colouring books and quality oversized board books to use as colouring aids!

Anna: Ein Klassiker und schönes Malbuch zu Ostern.
Der Text zu der Geschichte des kleinen Hasen ist in englisch. Die reizenden Zeichnungen, davon gibt es 12, sind in Gray Scale. Schatten und Schattierungen sind also bereits vorgezeichnet. Für jedes Bild gibt es eine Abbildung des farbigen Originals von Charles Santore (bekannt als The-Wizard-of-Oz-Illustrator).
Da kann man wohl nicht viel falsch machen beim Anmalen, oder? Ich frage mich nur, warum ich Hemmungen habe, in das Buch hineinzumalen.
Einerseits scheint es eine kleine Kostbarkeit zu sein (stolzer Preis für das dünne Büchlein - sehr schöner Druck! gutes, griffiges Papier) - ich verspüre die unbegründete Angst, das Werk zu zerstören - andererseits empfinde ich die schattierten Vorgaben als sehr dominant. Man kann sie auch als Hilfestellung verstehen, den Originalen so nahe wie möglich zu kommen.
Um den Bunny-Spaß voll auszukosten, würde ich nur Farbstifte in einer sehr guten Qualität nehmen, die Übergänge von hellen zu dunklen Tönen und Überblendungen möglich machen. Oder ich würde ein Kinderbuch einem Kind überlassen, das sich bestimmt nicht so viele Gedanken macht.

iiiireaderiiiireader: The media could not be loaded. This is a really beautiful coloring book of the tale of Peter Rabbit. The story is that of Beatrix Potter and the illustrations are by Charles Santore. They are a hybrid grayscale/line drawing version of the illustrations in the storybook by the same artist. Along with the story and the designs, there are thumbnail color pictures from the storybook on the inside front and back covers. That way, you can use similar colors if you so choose.

The book is a larger than standard format. The designs are a bit of a mix of line drawings and grayscale with a heavy use of gray in the details. There is still area for blending and shading if you desire. It is a really nice mix and one that will be fun to color.

It is set up in true storybook style, with the text on the left hand side (back of page) and the illustration to the right. Some mediums will bleed through the page (see below), which will interfere with the text but if that doesn't bother you, you can treat the book as if the designs were one sided.
