Justin M: This study book (and the series) is very well laid out informative and thought provoking. I have used this study of Acts and a few others to lead a Bible study of mature believers. It is a good fit for groups or a self based study. The theology is solid the foot notes are very informative. My only negative is I wish longer books like Acts were broken up into more than 12 study chapters. This book had sections covering almost three chapters of Acts, in one lesson, which is a large chunk.

Renée: It wasn't quite what I was expecting. Partly my own fault for not reading the description more carefully. Perhaps it would be beneficial to include that the commentary portion is also available in a different resource. The printing is also really terrible - blurry and poor quality.

Elizabeth S: I use it in companion to my Thomas Nelson Study Bible to get excellent commentary and notes on the book of Acts. I like when the study is more of an actual study of events, and not an exposition on living Biblically. I bought this book for the history of the book of Acts, and so far, I am very pleased with it.

AMOKArts: I read this Bible Study Book as part of my year-long study on the book of Acts. I've been reading a commentary by a Pentecostal Missiologist, a great book that told the book as a story set in our modern day and now this book by one of the great (decidedly, and contrastingly not pentecostal) Bible teachers of our day, John MacArthur. The diversity of these views has allowed me to see the book from a lot of different angles, which has been really helpful. I enjoyed this little book thoroughly. It divides the book of Acts into sections and after giving an overview of the section, plunges right into the text itself, giving insights as you read along. These insights are really helpful. Each chapter also has some really thought provoking questions at the end. My only regret with my purchase of this book was that I bought the Kindle version, making it a little clunky to answer the study-guide questions. I have no doubt I will return to this book for more intensive study before my "year of Acts" is out.

Shawn: It's a John MacArthur release. It's great!

Shahana: The only reason for this low rating is that it is not really compatable with Kindle. There is too much jumping back pages and then forward again. I now plan to get them in paper form.

AlwaysWindy: If you want a solid study of ACTS, this study guide is terrific. The ages of our group range from 21 to 60. Some are new in the faith, all are looking at growing in the relationship to Christ. The responses from our study group have been:
- It is great having the scripture we are studying already in the guide . . .
- Challenging questions that made me dig deeper into the meaning . . .
- There is a lot more to just reading the Bible passage in this study . . .
- The questions make this a more difficult study that ones we have used in the past . . . (this was a compliment!)
Our entire group highly recommends this study

Shawn Badger Burns: Essentially What you are getting with this Bible study are a distilled version of the Macarthurs study notes from any one version of the MacArther Study Bible.
Whilst this might seem redundant, It's actually very helpful.
The format is as follows:

Background and Setting, This covers the books' intended audience and idiosyncrasies particular to the author.
Historical and Theological Themes, what it says.
Interpretive Challenges, couple of pages helping you to cross the culture gap and history gap. A couple of pages long and very helpful.
The Studies themselves follow the following format:
Opening thought
Background of the passage
Bible Passage [with commentary/ glossary]
Understanding the Text
Cross Reference
Exploring the Meaning
Summing Up
Reflecting on the Text
Recording Your Thoughts
and finally Additional Scriptures to follow up on what you read.
I highly recommend using the 'Look Inside' option to see how excellent this study is.
