Jonathon: As an electrician I have a certain trust in greenlee, towards specific products. Doing some research I saw Tempo purchased Greenlee communications in 2019, but that would have changed my opinion for the initial purchase. Please as a seller be responsible and advertise your product correctly. As the consumer if I purchase something I see, I should expect to receive that. I should not have to think if I should return it, or be upset to not get what I purchased.

All in all technically the same product, but disrespectful sale for lacking in updating their information on their products. I even looked down in the reviews, and someone from 2020 have the same issue. Maybe just avoid this seller and purchase elsewhere so you can be certain you get what you're purchasing.

01MGM: This is one of the best toner/probe kits. I have this and a Triplett Fox and Hound. Theyre more or less equal. The Greenlees streignth is the probe. Its super accurate, loud and great at filtering 66hz noise. My only thing is you must always ground the black wire when toning cat5e/cat6 network cable. There are alot of dirt cheap toner/probe kits below $25 now. Ive used them and theyre almost all either weak, staticy, inconsisstant, or blast crossralk everywhere. They cant hold a candle to this. This is a percise tool and the probe will find the right wire clearly, loudly, and without hardly any crossralk. You know the wire with tone is rhe right wire with this. Thats why its priced so much higher. Its a percise professional tool and worth the price.

Ps you will see alot of cheap noname knockoffs of this kit on amazon and ebay. DO NOT BUY THEM! i tried one and it was nothing but screeching from the probe.

Brad: I’ve had a couple of these and have lent them to other guys in the company. They leave and I don’t get them back so I guess they are pretty good. Don’t lend it out... you may not get it back. I last tried a fluke version and didn’t work near as well. Save yourself some money and frustration, just go with this one.

Evan: Works very well! My first use was tracking an open circuit in my house. No schematics, was in the attic checking all the wires with a voltage detector and nothing. Yet had a part of a circuit that wasn't working. Found out that that part of the circuit actually went under my house lol. Easily detects in walls and under floors.

KMW: Decent tool. Does the job. For personal use, or use in small business environments, this is will serve you perfectly well.

The price for the tone/probe is very reasonable. The probe is not as sensitive as other tone probes, but those will cost you substantially more $$$.

In corporate/enterprise situations where you're dealing with larger buildings, and more congested cable raceways, a higher end model would be a worthwhile investment.

Josh in FLA: Great product that works as designed. Use this nearly daily troubleshooting witing in the fire alarm and structured cabling fields. Had a few bumps and bruises along the way, but still works strong. The small LED light in the wand is very handy in darker spots such as patch panels.

Just make sure to carry a spare battery for the tone generator, as the switch can sometimes get turned in in pouch and render it inoperable at a bad time.

Sunglass Evaluator: I'm glad I bought this, because I already had bought the Sperry ET64220, and I was unhappy with the probe that comes with the Sperry. It's not easy to keep holding down the very small button on the Sperry probe when searching for a hidden cable, and the tone volume is so low it's not as good as the Greenlee for hidden or shielded wires. The probe with the Greenlee is much better. It is more sensitive, easier to press and hold the button, and the red LED tone indicator actually works as it should. However, the Tone Transmitter in the Sperry ET220 kit is way stronger, so I'm glad I bought that too. By far the best combination is the Sperry ET64220 Tone Transmitter used with the Greenlee Tone Probe.

If you are only using it for unshielded cables and were you can get the probe up very close to them, then the Sperry alone will work OK, or even the Greenlee alone, but if you want maximum sensitivity and a good loud tone get the Greenlee for the Probe, and the Sperry for the best Transmitter. I'm not sure if you can get the Greenlee probe by itself, or maybe you'll find the other functions on the Greenlee transmitter are useful, but I haven't had occasion to use them.

AT: I used to owned a Greelee toner but someone jacked it while on the job site. I couldn't locate one, so I went to Fry's and got a Fluke and the toner sound is horrible, hard to distinguish whether a tone or no tone. I found this Greelee on amazon for less than I paid for the Fluke. I placed my order and as soon as it arrived, I installed the batteries and started using it immediately. So far It's been working great and easy to distinguish the tone.

Craig Paul: I bought this product around 5 months or so ago and really do love it. I work for a cable company so am often outdoors trying to trace cable, many toners I have found do not tone through waterproof casing over most of the cables I need to find, this is one of the few that does and it is also very accurate in comparison to many of the alternatives. I have been provided with various alternatives from my employer but none work as well as this for me. The only issue I have had with this is that as I work out in the rain fairly often, there has been a couple of occasions where it has got so wet that it has been out of action for days at a time presumably due to water on the speaker causing both the battery to drain even when it is not in use and also prohibiting the probe from working at all while that is going on. This has happened twice to me but both times it seems to have recovered after being left to dry for a week or so but as you can imagine it is pretty inconvenient when this has happened.
Most people of course won't be using this in an outdoor environment in which case this would be the best option for you without a doubt.
