Roofstar Arizona, Inc.: In our business we have tried most manufacturers of telescoping ladders and have found Telesteps overwhelmingly the best. Best engineered; lightest weight; easiest to use for our roof inspectors. (We do not use them in construction) Our inspectors use these ladders several times a day and we generally see the last with no problems for a couple of years. For a home owner the will probably last a lifetime.

Roger Drosd: I own a home inspection company, and we use these ladders daily. Most of us use the 12-foot models, but I have an 1800EP. (14.5-foot) It used to be possible to replace the existing feet with levelers that fit inside the body of the ladder. However, OSHA (undoubtedly inspired by some lawyers...) forced the company to include plastic bushings inside the ladder that dampen the speed at which it collapses when you squeeze the release. As a result, the levelers cannot be installed. Weird part is that the cheesy plastic parts eventually start to disintegrate, causing the ladder to jamb partially extended. The solution is to remove the plastic bushings. Now my ladder works perfectly, and I haven't a clue as to why someone would think it collapses too fast without the dampers. Without the dampers present, the levelers can be installed, and they work just fine. Unfortunately, since the ladders are supposed to have the dampers, they stopped making the levelers. So now, we are left with a ladder that cannot be safely set on uneven surfaces. The nannys have successfully sacrificed a good system for a more dangerous one, probably because not a one of them ever actually uses a ladder. Now, it's...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: I purchased this ladder for its height and load capacity. I've been using a 12 articulating Werner ladder for the longest but wanted to upgrade to a ladder more user friendly. The 1800 Telesteps is very eye pleasing and easy to use. It extends to its full height within seconds and collapses easily. The only problem here you have to be careful while climbing onto a roof within rain gutters or flashing as it slides pretty easy due to the smooth aluminum finish but your weight keeps it stable. As far as climbing to the top of the ladder while fully extended I'll never due that, I'm 230 and I have no desire to climb a roof too high or too steep however I'm in Los Angeles, CA where most homes are single story or two story so I don't have a serious problem when it comes to height. keep in mind some attic spaces are difficult to access since this ladder needs a wall or some sort of edge to lean on this forces me to keep my old ladder in the truck so there are set backs. I give it 4 stars.

jjw914: First one arrived with very poor packaging and slow delivery (delivery time only partially Amazon's fault due to severe weather during the time) .......but the ladder was inside a very flimsy lightweight box and it was damaged. One of the rungs was bent, the rubber pieces at the top to prevent damage to walls, etc was damaged, but the troublesome part was one of the feet was broken. I went online, submitted exchange request through Amazon and it was a seamless operation to have a replacement ordered. The second unit came in and was packaged much better. The ladder was inside a heavier duty box, inside another box w/ packing material around it.
This was purchased for work use, and when I initially extended the ladder, I was very concerned about how it will hold up. It seemed very flimsy and wobbly, but once I set it against a wall and got enough courage to climb a lightweight, seemingly flimsy "collapsible ladder" it seemed much sturdier. I have used this ladder several times over the last few weeks and it is doing fine so far. What concerns me is the plastic material that is used for the base and feet (reason for 4 stars vs 5).
The ladder is very tall when fully...
