Especially when I am downloading and uploading large files, the lagging came to a point where my Apple Magic Wireless Mouse is unusable. This is due internal WiFi chip is interfere with internal Bluetooth chip. My guts feeling is that internal WiFi chip and Bluetooth chip are a one combo chip. When Wifi is heavily used, MacOS reduces internal performance to prevent the chip overheating and melting which it actually happened to my Dell Alienware compact PC. By adding this external Bluetooth USB, it solves the mouse lagging issue. The is Bluetooth USB will override and disable internal bluetooth. So you will need to turn off-and-on on both Apple keyboard and mouse in order for the new Bluetooth USB to discover them. You will need also to shut down your Mac first, plug this Bluetooth USB in and then start up your Mac.

AH RICHARDSON: I have a Lenovo G780 17" laptop which was being 'difficult' with Bluetooth. It would connect to a few devices but not to most. Annoying ! At first I thought the problem was with Linux Mint 21 and the new Bluez subsystem. Then I had a moment of enlightenment. The onboard bluetooth (Broadcom ?) might be the problem. So I bought the Startech USB dongle as online Linux users said it works well.
I can confirm it works great with my Mint 21.2 set-up. Plugged it in, restarted the laptop and it was all ready to be selected in my USB control options. Yippee, my USB speakers now work great and I expect that other devices will too. Recommended.

CK: I previously purchased a Bluetooth dongle for half the price, but it did not work in Linux. This dongle from StarTech works out of the box with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. You get what you pay for.

Alex: I bought this for my Linux Mint computer and am happy to say that it woks great. Simply plug it in and it's instantly recognised, no driver installation necessary. Reliable connection, no dropouts even from a distance when connecting with Bose bluetooth headphones.

Maciek: Finally a working BT 5.0 dongle. If you're using Debian 11, you need to find firmware files for RTL8761B though. They are on Github Realtek-OpenSource/android_hardware_realtek (yes, Android repo but files work on x86_64).

Brian Hicks: Easy setup but range wasn't what I hoped, but that could have been the fault of the connected device also.

Theta: This works great with Windows 10 1903. It changes from stereo to the mic/mono mode automatically and in a sensible manner. However the range in my house is not even 50ft. It may work longer outdoors with no obstructions but for those looking to get more range in a wood frame dry wall house this is no better than the $10-15 options. I tested mine taped to a Popsicle stick and it is about 3 inches above the top of my monitor. My use is for a range of just over 50ft from a dinning room to a bedroom. The stereo suffers dropouts at about 45ft. My zexmite has the same range. I have a DG60 that goes past the bedroom but is difficult to make play with WIndows 10. But that is what I will continue to use. FYI, for those that don't know, Bluetooth cannot do stereo with mic as there are only two channels so you get stereo OR mic/mono.

Gary Sr.: I shopped long and hard to chose the best bluetooth dongle. I read way too many reviews, and finally decided that this one seemed to be what I was seeking. I even spent more than I had planned, with the hope that it would provide better performance. It did take a couple of hours to figure out how to make it get recognized by my computer, and then to make it work, but I finally got it. I had read in many reviews of similar products that this was an issue, so I was not surprised. Don't ask me what exactly I did because I tried so many ways to make it work, that I lost track. It did finally come around, though. The most upsetting fact about it is that it does not even come close to the performance of a Class1 dongle, which is what I REALLY wanted. I can barely reach 25 feet away, which is less that a Class2 claims, and only going through 1 wall, the signal completely falls apart. This is very disappointing. I am operating from the middle of my home, which is a small 3/2, and I cannot even get reception in my living room, which is just down the hall. I would return this item, but afraid I would end up with the same or less performance, and not really sure what to order to replace it....
