Amazon Customer: I bought this lard because I was tired of getting lard at the market that had a slight barnyard scent. No joke. This lard is beautiful clean white orderless and adds remarkable flavor to not only fried food but in baking in place of butter or vegetable oils. Heart healthy clean stable fats your body will love and your best bet for good cooking and food flavor. PS just bought their Beef Tallow. Can't wait to try it. Also full of health benefits that I wasn't aware of!

dfa: I made pie dough for the first time with lard and the results from this brand were impressive. Traditionally I've always used shortening but in an attempt to make my baked goods more natural I began making pie crust with either butter or lard. Butter is tricky due to the hardness while keeping it cold but South Chicago Packing Lard was so easy to cut into the dry mixture- it was a breeze. It baked beautifully, flaky light crust. Even the crimped edges were crisp/tender. The flavor is spot on, enhancing the flavor of the wheat flour, I didn't miss the butter taste at all. Additionally the rosemary that keeps it antimicrobial is in my opinion virtually undetectable. When opening the tub, I would say it smells slightly like paraffin wax- not like an animal product, herb product or food. I got no sign of the rosemary in the flavor or the aroma of the crust. I hope this is available again soon on Amazon because it's a definite reorder for me.

WaterwhirldWaterwhirld: I recently noticed that there was a big coupon available for this. Having bought it before and liking it very much, I used the coupon. It arrived in perfect condition, but it’s short-dated. Anyway, my handmade tortillas come out way better using this than any oil. I also started to use it in baking and is a welcome addition I hadn’t used before. It saved the day when I accidentally bought 99% fat-free ground turkey🤦🏻♀️ Fry an egg with this, too. I’m going to scoop small portions of this and freeze, as I don’t go through it that quickly. I like this lard and am a fan of SCP.

Nikki Cottrell: You should either use Lard or Bacon drippings to make refried beans. Some folks do make it with butter, but better burns more easily so you need to be careful. I purchased this Lard (rendered pork fat) to make my refried beans taste as authentic as possible. I’ve never made them before and they turned out great. Thank you!
