The SOG Camp Axe is the perfect companion for outdoor adventures. This camping axe is constructed with satin-polished stainless steel, making it highly durable and able to withstand rough use and all-weather conditions. The built-in glass-reinforced nylon handle ensures a firm and comfortable grip, while the 3.1 inch bushcraft axe edge makes chopping and feather sticking easy and precise. Rated highly for convenience, build quality, giftability and overall satisfaction, the SOG Camp Axe is the perfect tool for camping, hiking, and survival. G-Dude: I was pleasantly surprised to see this thing weigh in at its advertised weight, unlike others out there that weighed 2.5lbs when they said they were 1.3. It is sturdy and extremely well made. The blade will hold an edge. The only thing I don't like about it is the price, but this is a case in point of "you get what you pay for."
I have yet to see a backpacking info video on YouTube that mentions packing a hatchet or small axe, but I wouldn't consider going into the woods without one. Thankfully, this one is light AND sturdy enough for the job - the only one I've found so far. A definite keeper!

Stephanie Bailey: We bought this as a gift and our daughter has used it a lot. The sheath that comes
With it is handy because of safety.

Matthew: I got this to go in my pack when I camp, so I wanted a very light, but useful axe. It was pretty much exactly what I wanted. The handle is comfortable and doesn't slip, and being straight allows you to hammer easier. I plan on making a hip sheath for the axe, but the guard that it comes with feels pretty solid. My only concern is how the head is attached to the handle. I get there's a metal cuff, but I don't exactly trust the two pegs to keep everything going great. Hasn't broken or gotten loose on me yet, but just a design concern, and honestly, how else do you attach a fiberglass handle to an axe?

Also für mich absolut kein Messerersatz.

Lars Lunde: Alright. This thing is truly awesome. It is exactly was I was looking for. I was very apprehensive about the price however upon receiving this great little axe all my fears disappeared.
First off I personally love the design of the blade itself. Being able to get your hand up close to the head behind the “drop beard” portion provides excellent control for smaller tasks such as shaving wood chips for kindling. I’ve now had the opportunity to take this with me into the woods for several day camping and hiking expeditions and it has proved not only very useful but extremely durable.
I’ve chopped from soft to hardwoods and as expected the harder the wood the harder the chopping. Be mindful. This axe is only one pound and has a shorter handle than most. It is not designed as a splitting hatchet, but as a lightweight all around axe that is small enough to pack along when space and weight is a concern. This is not to say it won’t split to my extreme satisfaction but it is not designed for large work.
As I mentioned above the overall weight is very light. A mere single pound. However it is balanced extremely well with nearly all of the weight in the head....

cher thor: Nice little axe from SOG. It's nice and compact that you can just throw in your pack. Great axe for chopping little to moderate pieces of wood. If your looking to split logs, don't expect that from this axe. But 1 to 2 inch logs should be more than adequate for the job. I carry this in my hiking pack as well as my hunting pack. It comes out of the pack pretty sharp, but I like mine razor sharp so I sharpened it up a bit more. The axe is great to choke up on make some feather sticks and kindling for fire. Back of the axe is excellent as a hammer. Just wish it came paracorded on the handle like SOG's survival hawk. But nevertheless I paracord mine, to add btter grip to the glass nylon handle. It's a good peice to add to any collection. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
