Extremely sturdy and well made. No concerns about it breaking no matter how much abuse. Back side is a nice little hammer for pounding in tent stakes, etc. The axe head cover is nice and secures with the small orange clip. Would buy again 10/10.

Mike. London: Seems to work very well on smaller pieces of wood.
I just wish that the handle had a bit more grip to it, its very smoothe.

Buffer: I love the Fiskars brand, and this hatchet didn't disappoint. Weight distribution and fit in your hand is great being heavier at the head. I was surprised at just how sharp it is. Probably sharper than my razor. I have been able to trim branches and cut smaller trees in half with almost no effort. Just passing the hatchet over the branches sheers them right off! Get this over some no-name stuff, you won't be disappointed.

ErnieErnie: This is my first time owning or using a hatchet, I went and paid 8$ for firewood I didn't even need. I went directly into my camp site and began dismantling dead falled trees chopping them into sections. I accidentally struck a rock on the first use and put a nick in the top of the blade but that didn't effect the way it works yet I was disappointed that I already damaged my tool. The blade remains sharp even after all the work in my pictures shown. I hacked up some pretty good sized logs with it and even swiftly shaved some moss off the sides using the blade and a potato peel kind of swipe. It is comfortable in the hand and has almost no handle vibration once it strikes wood. In fact you will get more vibration from the wood into your arm if you are holding one end of the wood while striking it. I got the blade wedged a few times in certain pieces but removing it wasn't a daunting task. I'm not sure how others have managed to break the blade off this thing as I am a pretty muscular man. I swung it with some force at my side about chin level and it had no effect on quality. I'm definitely going to buy another one!

Candid ReviewerCandid Reviewer: I'm not sure I would believe this review if it hadn't happened to me. There are so many positive reviews of the Fiskars X7 hatchet that I can't imagine that the one I received represents the typical quality of the product line. But I'm very frustrated--in fact, angry--with the one I got. Here's why...
Upon receiving the X7 hatchet, I thought it was attractively designed, with a sturdy, functional head cover that fits snugly and protects the entire perimeter of the axe head. As soon as I removed the cover, however, I found the cutting edge to be extremely dull. I don't mean slightly dull. I mean dull enough to safely saw it back and forth across your wrist (NOT recommended! I just want to be clear about how dull.... more like a cast metal edge than sharpened steel.)
That's frustrating, but not a big deal. I'm very experienced at sharpening edged tools and I own a nice set of large diamond stones in a range of grits. After 10 minutes of work on a 600-grit stone, and a final polish on a 1200-grit stone, the hatchet had a nice, shiny, shaving sharp edge. Then I went in the backyard to try chopping some wood. For experiment's sake, I grabbed a few 4" diameter logs of...

Brandon: Not much else to say. Fiskars makes great products and this hatchet is no exception. The handle is lightweight but the head has enough heft to handle moderate chopping tasks.
