The Silverback 54" In-Ground Height Adjustable Basketball System is the perfect addition to any backyard or court. This system is made with a tempered glass backboard, a pro-style breakaway rim, and a backboard pad for added protection during lay-ups and rough play. The pole is made of powder-coated steel, making it highly durable and able to withstand all weather conditions. With its easy to assemble design, this system is a great gift for any basketball enthusiast. The telescoping mechanism allows you to easily adjust the height from 7.5 to 10 inches, giving you the flexibility to customize your game.Joseph T.: I don’t understand the reviews saying hard to put piles together. Just spray some lubricant on inside of top pole and outside of bottom pole. Put a piece of plywood on the drive way and lift and let fall. My wife helped me steady the pole. It took about 5 minutes maybe 15 lift and drops and the piles were together. Very easy!

IcarusVic: After a lot of research on which to get, we ended up with this one. The backboard is not regulation sized, but it's big enough for some hoops in the driveway.
We read the reviews and there's some good diagrams to from some other reviewers that really made sense. We used the extension ladder/rope system and it was super easy to do. I had my son on the rope, and a work pal and I each on a step ladder, but we could've probably done it with just 1 ladder. When you lower it to the lowest height, a 6' guy like me can pretty much hit those bolts with just a chair.
I really don't get why they tell you to drop a cinderblock in there and pour the hole like that. We just leveled the post to be flush with the driveway and belled out the bottom of the hole before we poured the concrete. It's as solid as a tree trunk. And I have yet to see any rattle or vibration, even with some half-court shots hitting the backboard. We also did not pour any concrete into the lower section of the post. Can you imagine another homeowner trying to remove that with a sawzall?
Also, I recommend you lay everything out and get your socket sets and wrenches as well as your cordless drill with a...

Jay HeathJay Heath: This is definitely a players hoop, i have nothing but good things to say about this basketball net. Great basketball hoop. Would recommend to anyone. Don't believe the people who say it shakes too much, they either installed it wrong or they consitantly throw up bricks. Mine is sturdy and hardly moves at all. It also gives off a really true and solid rebound. Easy to install. However make sure you have some friends to help with the backboard, 3 people min. I had 2 buddies myself and my wife and it was quite the upper body workout. Instructions are clear as well. For the money this is a no brainer for someone who is looking for a great net. Have had nothing but compliments about it from friends who have come over to play or neighbors walking by.

RNC: Silverback's packaging was superb; no damaged parts whatsoever. Amazon's delivery service was spot on and all well-coordinated -- a gold standard!. The assembly/installation instructions were about the best I've ever seen, except that some of the details to the assembly could have been printed a little larger. Rather than a bagful of hardware that you have to sort through, Silverback provides a nice blister-pack of the hardware, all labeled and indexed to the assembly instructions.
The overall pole/backboard is relatively stable. Yes, you can buy better/sturdier, but at almost double the price. To me, this unit represents the sweet spot of reasonable quality, and good price. I bought the 54" backboard, rather than the 60", and the 54" is plenty big. No issue whatsoever on wishing I had bought the bigger one -- just not needed. I wish the pole to backboard offset was a little more so that when the hoop is at 10', the pole was further behind the backboard. Not a huge deal, and not enough reason to spend a lot more on the next step up.
One small, but very important detail that I hope Silverback will take notice of and correct immediately: once you have the backboard up,...

Chris Heath: Awesome net. Noticed other posts say its not long enough. Probably because he put it to far in the ground. Mine looks and performs great. can actually go higher than 10 feet if you wanted it to

Suburban MacGyver: I looked at all the in-ground basketball hoops that weren't priced in the stratosphere and found the SB-54iG to be the best looking and best reviewed option. Reviews suggesting that the two poles are difficult to mate made me nervous but I decided to give it a shot. I watched the how-to video at Escalade Sports site and observed the burly man slamming the poles together with ease and, using the wisdom of prior reviews, hatched my plan. First, I'd use emery cloth to clean the inside of the top pole. Then, I'd put the top pole in the sun and a bucket of hot water to expand it while the bottom pole rested in a bucket of ice water to shrink it. Finally, I'd lubricate the mating surfaces. When the prep was done, father-in-law (FIL) and I picked the stacked poles up in the air and slammed them down on a square of particle board out in the street. After a few minutes of slamming, we were stuck, an inch short of where we needed to be. Swearing commenced. I climbed up a step ladder to better hoist the poles and FIL guided the bottom section. Slam. Slam. Slam. Nothing. More swearing.
Just when I was about to give up, a miracle happened. The bottom of the pole chewed through the...
