Portable, Height-Adjustable Silverback NXT Basketball Hoop

Kim Leone: Just put this together minutes ago. I was solo and it took me almost 5 hours. I was in no rush and made sure I was doing everything right so I didn't have to back track. You can get it done with one man but it wasn't easy. The directions were very easy to understand and the parts were labeled well. Seems very sturdy without the water even in it. It is much larger than I was expecting but I was replacing a cheap toddler hoop for something quality that will last while also being portable. I can't wait to see my 6 y/o sons face when he wakes up tomorrow and heads out to shoot hoops and sees this in place of his old one.

Rose A Stratmeyer: I researched a bunch of similar hoops before purchasing, and this one seems to have lived up to the hype. It's super sturdy, and the backboard looks great and has great response on bank-shots. Lowering and raising the hoop is a little tricky to figure out, but quick once you get it.
Assembly seems impossible in 90 minutes as advertised. It probably took me about 3 hours total as I was interrupted a few times by my kids, but it's not a bad project. The parts are all labeled well, and the instructions are clear and detailed (make sure you read everything in the instructions, including when to tighten bolts). Make sure you have all your tools ready, and a helper for certain parts, and it's a straight-forward build.

G. Spaeder: So far so good! Took my 14 year old son about 3 hours to assemble with one step needing assistance (attaching the backboard). We haven’t moved it much but with two people it is possible. Definitely sturdy with the front bottom support design.

Tim Jorgensen: Spend a little extra for this hoop, we are glad we did. All around our neighborhood folks have cheap portable hoops that they have to put extra weight on the bases to keep them from falling over. I went and bought a bag of the base gel and added that to the water when I filled this base, and this thing has never budged.
That also makes it a great hoop as it doesn't bounce all over the place when shooting. The height adjustment is super easy to use, as I have to do this all the time for different aged kids in our household.

Assembly takes a little time, but the finished product is well worth it. This thing is solid, I know we'll have it for years to come!

Riz: I settled on this hoop due to the high amount of good reviews and Silverback being a relatively well known brand. The price was also reasonable for what I figured was a high quality unit.

Pros:

assembly - It's actually a pretty easy hoop to put together if you have the proper tools. The directions are very basic and does a good job of keeping things simple while also guiding you step by step. You will, however, need another person to help you with certain steps.

Sturdiness - The hoop felt very secure after I finished assembling everything. I'm naturally super paranoid of a hoop falling into my car whether it be during a storm of just from it tilting over. The hoop itself managed to be able to stay upright after tilting it vertically once assembled WITHOUT adding water to the base. Obviously you'll want to add water/Sand to the base but I found it pleasantly surprising that it was able to stand on its own just with the base as is. I filled the base with water(75% full as recommended due to snow and cold weather being common in my area). I do plan on buying a couple sand bags just in case. I'm still paranoid and on the better safe than sorry...

Kyle RobinsonKyle Robinson: I bought the Silverback NXT 54" backboard basketball hoop for my son as a gift. This hoop wasn't cheap but the reviews helped me make the decision (especially the 90 minute assembly claim). Ok - the 90 minutes is a stretch, it took me double; but I was taking some breaks and it was hot outside. The instructions are great and all the pieces were in the box (thumbs-up). I only had two real challenges during the assembly and the instruction manual did say that some manoeuvering would be needed. So at this point of assembly I'm rating this system a 4.5 star.
Note: As mentioned this was a gift for my 8 year son and I was putting it together as a surprise while he was away at a sleepover.
So back to the assembly - 90% complete and I was putting the backboard on. As recommended in the instructions I took off the protective film in order to attach the rim. As an extra precaution, I still kept some of the film on in order not to scratch the backboard during the final assembly process. Once I completed assembling the entire basketball hoop I took off the rest of the protective film and that's when I saw some type of smudge or imperfection on the backboard.
