The Sengled E39-G8C Smart Hub is the perfect home automation module for those looking for an easy-to-use, easy-to-install solution to voice control their home. This 1-pack, white hub is designed to be both sturdy and reliable, making it the perfect choice for those looking to automate their home. With this hub, you can easily control your home with just your voice. Matt: There aren't that many inexpensive remote options out there for Smartthings users. The Phillips Hue Tap Dial Switch is your best option, but it's pretty pricey. You can buy like 4 of these for the price of one Tap Dial Switch... although maybe you'd be better off with the latter. Depends on your needs I guess. Tap Dial switch is cool AF.
Anyway this thing pairs quite easily and, although I haven't put it through rigorous testing, seems to do its job: on, off, dim. I'll probably experiment with some other edge drivers out there and see if there are other customization options.
Reason for 4 star rating: I bought two of these. One paired flawlessly. Thought I'd need to return the other one because it wasn't pairing. However, I'd read a lot of reviews that said these products have terrible battery life, so just for fun I tried replacing the battery. That did the trick. I just kind of think that a product should come with a working battery out of the box. Or no battery. Up to you, Sengled. Working battery or no battery. Those are the good options. Half-dead battery isn't a good one.
UPDATE: downgrading my review score to 3 stars. I am 100% sure that I received a...

Amazon Customer: I've gotten three of these now, mostly because they are the cheapest remote control device I've seen for home automation, especially with four buttons. I use mine with Home Assistant and a Nortek HUSBZB-1 acting as my hub. I've had no trouble with connectivity despite having few repeaters and a large, spread out home. Battery life so far has been merely ok; the first one I got for Christmas and had to replace the CR2032 battery in mid March. That isn't great, but is fine in my home (I ordered a forty pack of CR2032s for $10).
In Home Automation, the light controller shows up by default as simple buttons, but only supports single press and the dim up/down events both fire when either button is pressed. Fortunately, the home automation community has already provided a Blueprint that gives better integration for this device (search for Noblewolf and Sengled) that properly supports all four buttons with short, long, and double press events.
Update: I've seen the quick battery draining other people have reported on one of my remotes. It is linked to weak zigbee signals. In the Home Automation zigbee mesh map, I can see the original remote I got at full strength 255/255...

Donna: As others have mentioned, this is a good product but not straight forward to set up. Directions are not good but if your tech savvy you will figure it out

Amazon Customer: Battery longevity could be better. Had to change them after 6 months when triggered twice a day.

Bryan: Seems good so far but one sensor had the battery strip removed so it was dead on arrival. Seems like it was used and returned.

Jamison W.: Smart lights are pretty hot right now, but nobody talks about how, like, your elderly parents will control the lights when they come over. You also can't exactly tell every guest to your house to just use their phone. And the weird thing about the various smart light ecosystems is that a lot of them don't even have the option for a switch/remote. Enter this thing. It's one of the few options out there.
I mean, it works. It just has a lot of weird decisions that might eventually be rectified with software. Here's a list of them:
CONS:
The two dimming buttons are absolutely useless. They take so long to dim the lights. You can tap the button or hold it down, but it still takes forever even if you rapidly tap it like a madman. The app will not let you adjust how granular the button presses are. Honestly, I would probably prefer the dimming to be in like 20% chunks, but it literally seems that each button press increases it by a single percentage. I don't even bother using the dimming feature on the remote; I just use my phone. This design is bizarre and inexplicable.
You also cannot reprogram any of the buttons with one exception. For example, want to...

T D Jones: I bought this as part of a bundle deal when I got a second Echo Dot and they are great together. I'd considered getting Hive bulbs since I got my original Dot with Hive heating controls when I got a new boiler. Bulbs seemed to be a bit of a gimmick, but these were cheap enough to experiment with.
With my living room light already on a smart plug (another flash deal from Amazon) two bulbs were fine for my needs. I put one on the Landing and one in the bedroom. You have to install the Sengled app on a phone, and I might use that to control lights if I'm away, but they really come into their own when controlled by Alexa. I can just say "Alexa, Goodnight" and the downstairs light goes off and the upstairs ones come on. I then get Alexa to turn them off individually as I get ready for bed. When I wake up I can turn the light on without groping for a switch before I'm properly awake.
There are various programmable modes for turning lights on and off on a pattern if I'm not there. I've set them up but haven't used them yet. I did try out the Wake Up mode that makes a light get slowly brighter but, since you set each day of the week separately, had to remember to turn it off over...

Glow Bird: I bought these to use with Home Assistant. I had no problem pairing them and they've worked great. They batteries were at about 60% out of the box, but that seems to be a thing with a lot of devices these days. I've used them on multiple doors and have had no issues with the signal getting sent to the controller.
