Mike: I purchased Barska safe in 2016 and it is working fine. Recently, I lost the Key to open the safe as the fingerprints somehow got lost after installing new batteries. I contacted Barska Customer support and got the Key in a few emails by Alex. Very good product and customer service.

Rick: After reading some review I was a little anxious. However it arrived earlier then expected (one day instead of the 2 day Prime Shipping promises) and it has been an excellent experience and item.

So lets do Pros and Cons, starting with cons because there are so few.
Ok, let many say this is NOT a thick reinforced safe. Its more of large lock box. But lets be realistic, for $230 did you expected something more? Really? I believe a reinforced walled safe would be at least 4x that amount. Gratefully for me, a large Biometric lock box is just what i needed. It is also not water or fire proof as many pointed out, but it never claimed to be. A previous poster did great job pointing out the cons to such a safe so please read.
I did a good inspection of it on arrival. Shipping box was in good condition and so was safe. The interior shelves were not bolted down and loose (as many others had noted.) The bolts and nuts were loose in the safe and could potentially fall through the small mounting holes in its wall/floor, I can understand how some people were missing some. Luckily everything was inside. I would recommend that new buyers do look thoroughly in safe and shipping box...

Chris (YWG): **UPDATE - I am revising my review I initially left below 16 months ago. The safe is starting to fail. The handle gets jammed up, sometimes you can't open the door, other times, after opening, when trying to secure the safe closed again, you believe it's locked but a simple turn of the handle and the safe actually opens! All the while you thought it was locked! This is not good. I am outside the 1 year warranty but will be contacting the company.

Don't be fooled this is not a heavy duty safe meant to protect against fire. It could also easily be lifted and carried out. But having said that it does serve the purpose I believe it was designed for. Hidden in a closet and bolted down to the floor (I used 2 large lag bolts in the cutouts pre-fabricated on the floor of the safe) I feel very good leaving my valuables in there. And the best part about this unit is the ease of use with the fingerprint scanner. Was super easy to program, you can program multiple fingerprints, or like I did, scan your same finger multiple times in different positions (like half way on the scanner, off center etc) so this way you NEVER have a misread when trying to access your safe in a...

CN: • Not the best in terms of product finishing..noticed tiny dents and flaws top right side exterior of body
• Shaky door that does not fit snug after locking. You can feel sum space in-between the door after it's closed if you hold the handle
• Value for money - if you just need a small secure mini size cupboard like a mini fridge then worth a buy

o_O: If you are considering this item, chances are that you are particularly interested in the biometric functionality. I have owned several biometric devices from different manufacturers, including several small safes. The results have varied greatly in all cases. The method used by the BARSKA safe works the most consistently and reliably of any device (safe or otherwise) I have used thus far.

I purchased this safe particularly to store firearms and ammunition. It is quite roomy in this regard. It can store numerous pistols, and hundreds (potentially thousands) of rounds of ammunition (depending on how efficiently you place the items.) I am a responsible gun owner, and safety is always the number one priority when firearms are involved. Because the safe is used for firearm storage, the reliability of the biometic feature was paramount. I wanted something roomy enough to provide ample storage, but if you can't access it quickly, then the safe is all but useless to me.

The safe is capable of storing up to 120 fingerprints. Some might interpret that as 120 individual users, but in my case it serves for redundancy. I scan several different fingers, each multiple times at...

Bam Bam Rv Adventures: This is my second biometric safe. One was the smaller one that I purchased 2 years ago. That one was much smaller, but felt much more solid. This one is made in China, and is flimsy, but if that is acceptable to you, then as far as the fingerprint biometric goes, it works great. HOWEVER, I bought this "used" on amazon warehouse for $30 less than the new one. It came and although the packaging, although beat up, looked new. Everything was there, but the biometric did not work. It would not register. By the way, brand new, any finger print should work to open the safe. If you cannot open it, open the metal "Barska" emblem with the provide hex and open the safe manually with the key.
I did not want to lug this 30lb box back to UPS for returns, so what the heck, I am guessing that a wire is loose inside. I saw that there was only about 4 small screws on the inside of the door so I opened it up, and there was one white wire hanging where it is not supposed to. I plugged it in and the safe works good as new. I took a mini screwdriver and tighten all of the wire connections....they were all very lose, and closed up the safe, and everything is good to go.
