The SCHLAGE BE365 CAM 505 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt is one of the best Deadbolts on the market, offering easy installation, superior build quality, and an efficient design. With just a screwdriver, you can replace most existing deadbolts in as little as 30 minutes. Plus, no wiring is required, making installation a breeze. The deadbolt also features a silicone-coated keypad to prevent numbers from wearing off. Shop the SCHLAGE Store today for this top-of-the-line deadbolt. Thom Allen: I love these keypad locks, and would totally give them five stars if it weren't for this one thing:
** These locks stop working in cold weather if they are attached to an area that is not heated.
If the lock is on something like an outdoor shed, in cold weather the spring inside the unit does not pull the lock open when the code is entered. I think this should be addressed by Schlage somehow so you can use these locks outdoors in cold weather.

Laura VLaura V: Purchased this lock to reduce the need for a key and quick entry and exit. This was one of the few that we could get that matched the door handle without having to replace both the knob and deadbolt. It was fairly easy to install with two people and a phillips head screwdriver. We had to do some work with the strike plate to get it to fit but thankfully we had a grinder to move open it up enough. The only major complication was that the lock mechanism on the outside of the door hits exactly on the handle of our storm door. We have been able to work around it by turning the outside mechanism horizontally and it fits just over the storm door handle. We're replacing the storm door soon so it's not that big of a deal but that could have been an issue because you don't really notice that until it's fully installed. (Second pic shows lock horizontal so storm door can close all the way, third pic shows lock vertical preventing storm door from being able to latch.
Overall pleased with the look, design, ease of installation (only using the directions in the box and not videos online), and ease of entry/exit from the home.
We picked this one due to the brand and reputation....

Jeff W.Jeff W.: Got 2 of these to replace the standard deadbolts in the front and back entrance of the house.
Absolutely love these Schlage keypads - easy to install and program (just make sure you take a picture of your programming code in case you lose it - it's also on the inside of the back portion of the lock, but that requires taking it apart again!).
The deadbolt is very easy to turn from both inside and outside, and both the unlock and the locking actions are dead simple: to unlock, enter your code, and then turn the rotating keyslot. To lock, just press the Schlage button and rotate the keyslot towards the door.
My dad was here when I was installing these locks, and he loved them so much he went and got his own.
Because the deadbolt is still turned by hand (the code just allows it to turn), the battery life on these is excellent, as there are no motors required to push/push the deadbolt like with many keypad locks. This moving o the deadbolt is what causes other deadbolts to eat batteries.
There's no WiFi or other smartphone functionality, but in my eyes that is a PRO - I work as a software engineer, and I would not be comfortable with a lock that links to the...

Duncan McKenzie: I had a few concerns about replacing an older keyed Schlage lock with this digital lock. What happens if the battery runs out? (The battery life is very long, and it will flash a warning as it starts to get low. There is also a manual key if you need to override the digital lock.) What if people use trial and error to guess the combination? (After a few wrong attempts, it will shut off for a minute or so. It would be hard to guess the combination by trial and error.) What happens if someone reveals the combination? (The combination can be changed – that's better than on a keyed lock, where losing a key might mean having to change the lock.)
The most difficult part about replacing the lock was that the previous lock used a smaller sized hole, so I had to expand the existing hole. This took me several hours to get right. (It would not have been a problem with a more recent lock or door, which use this lock's standard size.) Once the hole was in place, the lock was quick and easy to install. Changing the combination requires following the instructions carefully (you can't wing it), but is not difficult. The operation of the lock feels solid and satisfying. We can now go...

Victoria Kirton: We had the same lock previously but over the course of 6 years the mechanism inside must have worn out because despite changing batteries it wouldn't lock. We were findong that we were having to put the handle tight to us to get the deadbolt to engage and then would have to wait each time to make sure it had actually locked as most of the time nothing had happened or the dial to open the door would just keep spinning.
When it is very cold (canadian winters) the lock also sometimes fails but overall its a great lock, just wish we could have a lifetime warrenty with it for the price.

Buyer: I chose this model (manual turn) over Weiser and Kwikset ,other two commons (auto turn) is because 2 reasons. 1. chance of failure to lock by auto due to misalignment or low battery. 2. don't want to replace battery in at least one year . This schlage is easy to install with the instruction sheet enclosed in less than a hour, but I had a few minor issues. Firstly two wires after connection is hard to bend naturally to give no chance for pinch to break, a channel design should be easy in mold. Secondly there is no deletion to all users codes , you have to delete default two from manufacturer one by one. Overall looks good and excited to try for months with more notes afterwards.

missbhavens: I have never been so incredibly angry at a lock in my life, yet here I am purchasing another. Why? Glad you asked.
Three years ago we purchased our first Schlage keypad deadbolt for our MIL suite door and we loved it so much we bought two more for our other exterior doors. It's amazing how much your life improves when you don't have to worry about carrying/losing keys. We changed the batteries on every New Year's Day as a rule, just to be on the safe side. The override keys were stored in a safe place, or so I thought. I'm sure you can see where this is headed.
Yep! Locked out in the pouring rain with guests arriving in five hours. The battery died after I'd accessed the suite to collect the linens. I'd locked the door behind me, went downstairs to load the washer, and when I returned it was a red blinking light and I was out of luck. But I knew where the key was, so no problem! Except that the key wasn't where it belonged AT ALL and my husband had just boarded an airplane. Did I mention it was pouring rain?
So after a few minutes of panicking and ransacking every drawer in the house, I called a locksmith. I felt instantly calmer when he arrived but alas, he...

NJP: I tried and did not like the complications associated with wireless deadbolt locks. These are a treat compromise. I can now go keyless, no effort yet we have keys available if needed. Easy to setup and easy to program extra personal codes plus disposable codes we can give out for limited use. It's not the easiest key to work BUT it's a very hard lock to pick and break. Very attractive. Takes only a bit of effort to get to used locking by code and leaving by button press and a turn versus a key each way but after a few times - voila. Last thought is that we might have liked auto lock but after more thought we realized it would be come frustrating versus this method because of our frequency of quick out/in's. Overall - the perfect solution for our house and we purchased for our front and back doors.
