I love this cookbook! It is currently my favorite vegan cookbook and the only one I am using. There is so much I love about it. Not only are the recipes cheap, easy and delicious but the first part of the book is make ahead recipe bases that are AWESOME! So far I have made the muffin mix and the mac & cheese mix and both are spectacular. In fact, the muffin mix + the muffin recipe makes the best vegan muffins I have ever created since becoming a vegan (one year now). So far I have made coconut chocolate chip muffins and lemon blueberry muffins. And the mac and cheese is wonderful. She has single serving directions so you can make a cup of mac & cheese! And that is what I do! I made the butter cauliflower except I swapped seitan for cauliflower and added mushrooms. It is the closest recipe I have ever made that tastes like the butter chicken from my favorite Indian restaurant that I ate before becoming vegan. And that butter chicken is the best I have ever tasted (and I tried a lot of Butter Chickens before going vegan--both in restaurants and attempts at home).

Eloise: I bought it as a gift for a friend that can not cook. She loves it since she can make the recipes without feeing overwhelmed and it give her great ideas. I also read through the book and as someone that loved to cook, I think it’s perfect for nights that you don’t want to cool complicated dishes.

Kally Smith: Anything I make in this cookbook turns into magic, and I am not even vegan! (Vegetarian) I have both of Sam Turnbull's cookbooks and preordered the third (plus a free email subscription for more recipes). I tried some of her recipes on YouTube, and was so impressed that I purchased the cookbooks!! I love that she shares wonderful ideas, inspiration, and the know-how needed to make each recipe perfectly, the first time. These are the first cookbooks I turn to, as the adventure continues. Yay! Thank you Sam Turnbull!

Green Isis: I love Sam Turnbull and her blog and YouTube channels, It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken! I've struggled with going vegan because I always found that the recipes just didn't taste very nice, were way too spicy, and/or had obscure, hard to find (and sometimes quite expensive) ingredients. Then I discovered Sam's first cookbook, Fuss Free Vegan, and found that making vegan meals didn't have to be an ordeal where you slaved over a complicated and time consuming recipe with a not so yummy result, and that you could make something super tasty with minimal ingredients in a short amount of time (something that is incredibly important to me since I am physically disabled and don't have a lot of dexterity or energy). I absolutely love this book too because there are so many recipes that you can make ahead of time and freeze or keep in your cupboard to whip up a meal fast. The mac and cheese powder is so yummy! I love Sam's recipes so much that I have already pre-ordered her 3rd book that will be released in October 2023. Plus, she's Canadian, so I want to support our local talent! Elle Prochaska: Bought because I am severely lactose intolerant and tend to go for more vegan foods. Recipes are cheap and generally good. The only problem I find is a lot of the recipes are bland and lacking seasonings. If you know what seasonings you like, it is easy to customize recipes to your taste. Good for beginner vegans.

If you're new to veganism, Sam Turnball is (in my opinion) an ideal person to follow. Initially, I subscribed to her mailing list for recipes, as soon as her book was printed; I couldn't wait to get a copy!
No fancy expensive ingredients, just using everyday ingredients I have made some very tasty meals.
I just wish that cilantro had coriander in brackets or zucchini had courgette in brackets..... I find it a little confusing when I have to google things lol

A reader: I have fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (a.k.a. chronic fatigue syndrome), as well as other health issues. Preparing food is an enormous challenge for me because I don’t have the stamina to stand for long, nor do I have the concentration to remember the numbers/amounts that I have just read. That being said, I am actually able to use this cookbook. The layout is perfect for me — to my surprise, my brain can actually make sense of it. The recipes are simple, quick, and delicious. My non-vegan husband and my non-vegan friends love the recipes that I have prepared.
