Anonymous: I bought the book after realizing that HA was the most likely culprit of my missing cycles. The book is really skilled at taking medical research studies and condensing them down into easy to understand sections and as rationale behind the recommendations made. There are plenty of anecdotes as well sprinkled throughout the book, which may be helpful for those that want to connect to the human side of the data.
Although a large portion was not tailored to my goals (I.e. getting pregnant) the first half of the book is genuinely the best reference guide for HA, which unfortunately still isn’t well researched in its own right. You can use the book to understand what’s going on, the differences in HA and PCOS, why it happened, educate on medical literature or take the recommendations which I can say worked for me (albeit after months of resistance).

Lisa Hollingsworth: I was trying to get to a 21 BMI for my wedding. Healthy, right? I was on BC, so I assumed my body was just fine. It took a year of not getting any periods for me to realize my body was not fine. My OB thought I was fine (healthy weight) and my GP said I was fine. I wasn’t a runner, I wasn’t anorexic, I was just doing what my IG fitness idols said was “healthy”. After reading this book and following the advice, I was back to my 24 BMI and my period came back in two months. One month later, I was pregnant with my now one-year-old baby boy. I can’t thank this book and Nicola enough for helping me re-think my health and my body as a whole. “Looking thin” is no longer the most important thing in my life now. This book helps you take the biggest plunge- stopping and re-thinking what society has taught you to be “healthy” and instead listening to your body! Some people can’t be a “healthy” 22 BMI and THATS OKAY!

Lee: I was on BC for over a decade, exercised daily and was seeing a fertility specialist. They all just told me to just gain weight. After a year of trying to get pregnant (gained weight) and never getting my period back, I found this book and now have an almost 1 year old!!
This book changed my life and I was able to actually book a call with the author to get one on one personalized advice! She was the only one that was able to help me and 3 months later, my period finally returned!!
This book is very educational and really helped me understand what was going on with my body and what to do to help it!!

Amazon Customer: Wonderful book! I’m so thankful to have found dr Nicola Rinaldi back in 2013 when the book was being written. I found Nico on the original ha message board and she shared much of the intensive research that she was doing for this book while it was in its beginning stages . I lost my period at age 15 and hardly had one until age 23. Nico was able to guide me through her knowledge and research on hypothalamic amenorrhea (al of which is shared in detail in this book), and give answers and direction to my situation and recovery in a way that the countless doctors (some top doctors), I had visited during that time had not. Dr Nico is truly very experienced in the field of ha research and recovery if not the most experienced out there. I have been recovered from ha for several years now and have a beautiful daughter and a much more balanced lifestyle. I could not recommend this book more highly. kaitlin koshurba: Without this book I would not have learned that I have hypothalamic amenorrhea and would still be misdiagnosed as having PCOS. This book is what got me to take my health seriously, and following these well-researched guidelines I was able to recover my period.
The amount of knowledge and research in this book (over 500 + references) paired with many testimonials is what inspired me to put my health first and get my cycles back. Nicola is truly dedicated to helping women with HA and I am so grateful for this book.

Trisha: From ages 20 to 28 I was told that my irregular/missing periods were because I had "lean PCOS". (lean because my BMI was normal). I would only have a period once or twice a year. I never had any other symptoms of PCOS except missing periods and "cysts" on my ovaries on ultrasound. But because I was told that I had PCOS, I restricted my intake of food to "stay thin" and battled bulimia for many years. I would go back and forth between restricting and bingeing for YEARS. I tried to get pregnant for 3 years and had two miscarriages before I found this book, and realized that I actually had hypothalamic amenorrhea (or maybe a combo of both PCOS and HA). After following the protocol in this book I started actually eating enough food for the first time in 8 years, and not only did I get my period, but my urges to binge lessened significantly. Even though I had one period I didn't want to wait any longer so I used a fertility drug called Femara to speed up the process, and conceived and gave birth to a healthy baby boy! He's 9 months old now. I am SO thankful to Nicola for writing this book. I have the most precious baby boy and I'm recovered from my long battle with bulimia...
