Raven Select Document Scanner for Windows PC and Mac Computers

A.Rose: I follow all of the correct steps yet it does seem to connect to my apple Mac easily, it’s very awkward & times consuming. Once connected it does work fine.

Cruz Brother's Construction Co: This scanner is great. It connects to so many different locations that I am able to send my files to multiple locations. Easy to set up, small enough to stay right on my desk, and scans are clear and crisp. Saving to the cloud and desktop files at the same time is so convenient. I no longer have to rescan files just to attach to certain locations or copy and paste or drag to upload. Love this scanner.

Eclectic reader: I like the size and the ease of use of this scanner once it is installed. It makes clear and aligned double-sided scans very quickly. It is a great product for me as I use it intermittently but with a variety of documents and it is essential that it is simple and effective. I am very happy with this product.

Disgruntled Don: You'd be better off finding a different scanner brand! The mechanics of the scanner itself seems to be pretty good. However, the desktop interface is garbage! It's not very intuitive on how to save scanned images to a local drive and it's constantly wanting you to save to the Raven cloud! I bought this for a business and document security is a major concern with my company. With this scanner, you can't even download the drivers without creating a Raven cloud account first. And now since I've installed the desktop and drivers, just logging into Amazon has been effected, as if something in the drivers or desktop is mining data. If you do not have an internet connection to your PC, you will not be able to scan. In my frustration, I started to uninstall the drivers and desktop program and my virus protection program intercepted a virus that was embedded within Raven's setup.exe program! I highly suspect that there is data mining occurring with this system every time a scan is made. If you value your security, do not buy this product!

Zara: I liked how small and portable it was, the scans were clear and I also appreciated how cheap it was.

But, cheap meant the performance was below average. Kept scanning multiple pages in one go. So if you had 4 pieces of paper, page 1/2 would scan together and then you'd only get 3 pages scanned out of 4. It kept doing this and we followed there instructions re fanning the pages out etc. It doesn't help or work.

Also, the whole dropbox, raven cloud etc upload situ is ridiculous. Why do I have to scan to the cloud. I need to scan to my computer, it just added a uneccesary third step. We should have the choice to upload our document where we please.

I would only reccomend this if you want to scan a couple of documents here and there. Do not rely on this cheap thing if you want to do more.

ngp: Having read the positive comments about the scanner, I was indeed impressed enough to order the item from Amazon but that diminished after I received the scanner.

I have a few concerns:
1. Being forced to have a cloud account when I don't want my sensitive documents sitting in the cloud but this was enabled by default! I had to navigate by intuition to turn off this setting.
2. The product was misdescribed - the amazon summary indicated 50 sheets could be loaded but further down in the product details, it states 100 sheets! There is absolutely no way, 100 sheets can be loaded.
3. The user manual is incomplete and the unpacking instructions are not clear. There were orange adhesive tabs around the unit which prompted removal but when I came to a bit of foam strip wedged in the side of the unit, I didn't know how to remove it and i didn't want to start using the scanner in case this piece of packaging if left inside would damage the machine. Calls to customer service are routed to the USA, even though a UK number is given which meant that when I raised a query at 9.00am our time, their offices were closed!
4. I even downloaded the user manual and nowhere did it...

Wendy Neugebauer: The scanner works great and in accordance with the advertised features, so it is a good value. My two favorite features are: option to set the scanner to check for double sided pages, and; the scanner will OCR the pages into searchable format so I don't have to do that separately. My only issue (I have the USB only connection, no bluetooth) is that if I switch between using the scanner with my desktop and my laptop, I usually have to uninstall and reinstall the entire program (app) and run setup again because the scanner will not connect and the USB connection cannot be found. I had to contact online support to figure this out, and now find that I have to uninstall, reinstall and run the setup every time I change computers. If I did not have this issue, I would rate this scanner a 5. The good news is that the online support was very good. I have recommended this scanner to business associates, with the caution of the glitch mentioned above.

Di: Bit stunned with the performance of this little machine - it's really going to make a massive change to my life.
Over the years I've tried to find the best way to store all the old paperwork I need to keep, but no matter what I do the burden just keeps increasing ..... until now.
This little beauty is a really well-made bit of kit and, in less than the time it would take to scan a single page on my printer, it zips through a whole bundle of pages with double-sided scanning.
Unfortunately I'm not very intuitive with tech, I like to see the instructions - so the initial set up took some time as did trying to work out how to use the Desktop app to scan - however, as soon as I located the full user guide it all became clear.
I can scan some pages, add and remove pages, then save direct to a file on my iMac. The only downside I've found on the Standard model is the inability to re-order the scanned pages before saving the file, but this too is easily rectified - simply re-open the file in Preview and do it there.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the piles and piles of paper vanish, it's going to be a big weight off my shoulders and the house will breathe a sigh of...

Frequently needing to scan loan packages of 100 up to nearly 300pgs. This Raven scanned gets the job done! It’s fast, reliable. I’ve had no paper jams or it pulling more than one page through. At the time I could not afford the pro version so I bout the standard and will use it as a mobile unit and Purchase the Pro for the office. The Raven Standard is great. The Raven desk top is easy to use and you have so many places you can scan to and the Raven cloud has unlimited storage and is HIPAA compliant so your personal info is protected. I highly recommend this scanner. I spoke with Gina about the product and she was knowledgeable and friendly. I can’t wait to by my upgrade.

Terrell V. HicksTerrell V. Hicks: A friend/co-worker recommended RavenPro and her recommendations are usually spot on, so I saw this Raven Pro which was in my price range (my coworker has the other two) and ordered it. It arrived a few days later and once I got it setup and did a test scan…it was all she wrote. And then once I figured out how to scan directly into specific folders on computer I was in scanner and have been ever since. And that was a couple of weeks ago. I am a writer (in my spare time) and this fantastic because notes and/or stories that I write by hand I can scan them so I have the original thought/idea along with a typed version.

I love it. The interface (Windows Version) is very user-friendly and easy to use. I love the fact that I scan something and send it directly to an email. If you’re looking for a compact, portable, scanner for your office, home office, or workspace The Raven Pro Standard/Brand is the way to go.
