@DaveVet0429: These crank arm protectors do just that…protect the end of your crank arms from rock bashes. I have them on several bikes and they work as intended. Note: as described in the advertising, you’ll have to remove your pedals to install…and crank arms do vary in thickness.

Billy Ainsworth: These things are pretty useful. I started to see some wear and tear on the ends of my cranks and decided to give these a try. In addition to protecting the crank ends from rock strikes, they add a bit of color to an area of the bike that doesn't have much of that. I gave 4 stars only because they do not fit snugly right off of the bat. If you heat them up (in boiling water or with a heat gun-careful not to melt) you can put them on the cranks and then dip them in ice cold water and they will shrink to form perfectly to your particular cranks. I would definitely suggest them to any and all Mountain Bikers that spend any amount of time in rocky terrain.
