Protect Hummingbird Feeders from Ants with the SEWANTA Ant Guard

Teacherspet: Not sure what the disk emits, but ants don't like it. Have never had an ant problem once I started using ant guards. I usually get 2 years use out of each guard. Highly recommend.

Sarah Sue: Had big 1/2” nocturnal ants (brown and red bodies) swarming my feeders ... these guards worked—a lot fewer of them made it to the feeder, but it took a few days before the ants completely stopped coming.
Top hook on one guard snapped off in the first week just as I attached the feeder (I’m using one liter feeders); maybe I let it drop a few inches when hanging the bottle?—not sure, usually I’m very careful so as not to spill solution. Anyways, I fixed it to work by drilling small holes near the bottom of the upside-down “cup” (near the rim) and attached wires to make a new hook—and it’s working well so far!

Patty: I have used this particular style of ant guard for many years. It does a great job of keeping ants away from my hummingbird feeders. I have actually taken the ant guard down at the end of the season, stored it in a small ziploc bag and used it again the following year. It still worked and allowed me to get 2 years' worth of protection from 1 ant guard. This particular order consisted of two ant guards, as well as chains for hanging. It is easy to hang and the red color makes it easy to catch the hummingbird's attention. It arrived quickly and was packaged well. I will definitely order again in the future.

Dale Gillespie: It should be stated on Amazon that the directions on the box clearly exclude fire, harvester, argentine, carpenter, and pharaoh ants! (As I informed Amazon today.)

I just reordered and received a couple Ant Guards and used last season's Ant Guard for well over a year without a single ant. Then, after all that time the disc with repellent (hidden up in the housing) lost its strength, after which I discovered the feeder covered in ants - but that was after more than a year of keeping ALL ants away. The information on the box states that it works for "a full season." The few negative reviews must be folks with those excluded ants. It's easy to google common ants and see photos to help identify a particular species.

LLT: I don't know who's happier about these guards - we humans or the hummers and oriels we feed. We used to be plagued by ants invading the nectar and jelly feeders. The birds wouldn't use the feeders at all if there were swarms of ants present. We tried these thinking that we'd still have a few get past them - but not one single ant since. They are in the trees where we hang the feeders and know right where the path is to them because we hung the them right in the same place. They work so well I ordered some for friends. The chain is a litle short, so that part isn't such a good deal. However, if you have an ant problem, buy these. Then the problem will be the ants' - not yours.
