Soil Guy 74: Just received this reel. Gritty out of the box, so tore it down and oiled. Much smoother with sufficient lubrication. Has the 1-10 magnetic control on the left side as expected (this is a right hand reel). Haven't put line on it so cannot attest to how well the magnetic control works. Purchased this reel after a Curado was stolen. Needless to say, this is not a Curado, Revo, Millionaire or any of the big brands, but the price point is much less than the big guys. This reel fits in my medium sized hand very comfortably which would allow holding the reel while retrieving a cast. Problem with the reel is that grasping the reel, cradling it in my hand, on a popping rod, no line, the frame tends to collapse around the spool effecting the retrieve. The handle becomes difficult to turn and pressure is obvious. Can't say what will happen with the retrieve when a large fish in on, but assume the issue has come up and Fiscifan addressed it.
There is little information about the reel on amazon or on the Piscifan website. Unfortunately the reel doesn't come with much additional information.

Amazon Customer: Purchased this for lure and lightweight fishing. Went on YouTube to see how to set it up but still couldn’t get it right for me. I have watched fishing websites and see these used a lot with no problem. At my age I think fussing about with this is not for me. The reel itself is very smart, lightweight and smooth to operate. I believe it is good value for the reel but using it will take more patience than I am prepared to offer it.

Peter Hing: Piscifun makes really great looking reals for a dramatically lower price than the big name fishing companies. I was so happy I found them on sale and ordered 2 to build my arsenal of fishing reels and future rods for the 2022 fishing season. First off, the reel is super smooth with no play and just looks so good with the red hi-lights. Second, the double handle is oversized compared to my older bait casters so feels good and should give me and my son the confidence to reel in some big smallies and largemouth. Finally I like the clicking tension knob as that is well thought out so you get the audible that you are actually making it tighter or loser as needed. The star drag has this as well which again is a really nice touch. I have not used them yet as it is November so when Bass season opens and when I finally buy some bait casting rods on sale, we will be putting these reels to the test for sure. If you are new to bait casting reels and rods, you need to practice, practice, practice. I taught my son this summer and he practiced all summer in the back yard casting side arm, full over the head to ensure he didn't mess up and get a nasty backlash. Roberto: In a search for the best baitcasting reel for around $40 I purchased a Piscifun Torrent and a Cadence CB6. No one gave me a reel (or a discount) or influenced my opinion in any way and I am being completely honest. I do not have a YouTube channel or need sponsors! I am just a guy who likes fishing. In my opinion, right out of the box the Cadence seemed to have better build quality and feel. It felt very smooth, functioned perfectly and spooled the line perfectly. I did not have to send it back because of defects.
The first Piscifun Torrent I ordered had a rubbing sound around the shaft when cranking and the knobs on the handle felt rough when spinning. I returned it for another. The second torrent had a misaligned spool and all the line built up on one side of the spool in a lopsided wedge. Also a gap between the spool and body kept catching the line while spooling. Ok, that one was also returned as defective. Third time is the charm. The third one felt very smooth. It spun and functioned correctly and the line was only slightly lopsided when spooling but was acceptable.

UnknownCuberUnknownCuber: Wanting a first baitcaster, after fishing for the last 10 years with spinning reels only, and not having the funds for an $80+ reel, led me to budget options. After researching many different reels (Abu Garcia BlackMax, KastKing Royale Legend, etc), I decided to purchase this reel along with a Piscifun Torrent 6'6" MH rod. I ordered 10lb Sufix 832 braided line to spool on. I also ordered some PENN reel oil and grease. Upon receiving the rod, reel, PENN products, and line I immediately oiled and greased the reel. While this was a bit tricky (possibly due to it being my first time handling a baitcaster), I eased my way along and eventually was able to grease the main gear and carbon fiber drag washers, as well as oil the bearings and other moving parts. I utilized the mechanism diagram provided with the reel to ensure proper reassembly. The next day I was able to spool the reel with my braided line. After some trial and error I was able to tie an arbor knot to hold the line on the spool, along with some tape on the knot to ensure there isn't any slippage of the line.
