JoshuaJoshua: These have become my new favorite reels! I did buy a Carbon X2 and actually perfer the orginal. Believe I have 4 in the 1500 (3 on UL trout rods and one x2 on an ice rod) and one in the next Size bigger on a walleye rod. Used to be a big Pfluger guy and have a dozen ranging from the Trion to President Xt and although I loved them the price started getting out of hand. Not only is the price better on the Carbon X I also like them better.

Piscifun is cranking out quality fishing reels, great value for the $$$...the Carbon X is their highest tier model. Priced much lower than their competitors in retail stores for reels that have similar features. I own a few Piscifun Viper X reels which are priced about 20% lower than the Carbon X series. The main difference between the two reels (Viper X vs Carbon X) is the carbon fiber frame and heavier duty gears on the Carbon X...otherwise they have similar drag ratings (carbon fiber drag system on both) and a similar design. Both perform very well and are durable. Drag systems on these Piscifun reels are really smooth, and can bear a lot more pressure compared to similarly priced reels in stores (where drag ratings are commonly 8-16 lbs at most).

Your money is much better spent on one of these reels vs. the lower-end Shimano/Penn/Pfleuger models that are priced nearly the same at big box stores (such as Target or Walmart)...those reels are a fairly big step down in quality compared to these Piscifun reels. Definitely recommend especially for younger anglers who tend to put more wear & tear on the reels and...

Meng: I'm a Quantum guy, but I also have lot of other reels mid range to flagships. Penns, Shimano (Stratic Ci4) etc but I prefer and have a better luck with Quantums when it comes to dependably. I'm a weekend warrior kind of guy, I dont care for tournaments or make this a way of life. I just enjoy fishing and have fished fresh and salt waters. Most of my reels I pick up second hand or when local outfitters liquidate or when they get clearances out (main source). But I've been seeing this reel online for a while now and thought let's see what the hype is all about.

First off, it's a very attractive spool. Quiet the machining was the first thing I noticed, I dont like the narling in the spool as it aesthetically looks aggressive but functionally is a line file. Closest thing to me getting spooled, are lake trout or sturgeon here in MN, so it'll be fine for all other targeted game fish here. Upon closer inspection of the spool some of those hardware look very cheap, like tin. I'm not expecting titanium or stainless steel but just pointing that out there for those that think this is worth much more than what its cost. Drag system is nice, and internal system of the reel is ok....

Larry ZLarry Z: Take Home Point: Best of the budget/affordable reels from the online fishing companies (E.G. Kastking, Picifun, etc.).

Extremely light weight relatively to size, strong carbon fiber/aluminum design, and solid performance for most people’s needs.

BUT really not much internal difference compared to the $30-$60 reels with marginal benefits.

Long Review:

I received this reel and initially loved it so much that I went and ordered another one. However after using the reel a second time, I decided to return the second unopened one because while I do believe that the Picifun Carbon X is currently the best reel from the budget/affordable online fishing companies; there is not enough benefits compared to the $30-60 reels to justify buying another one. But on the positive notes first.

1. Lightweight: because of the carbon fiber on the neck, body, and rotor of the reel, the 4000 size is incredibly light and strong. The aluminum spool is also designed to minimize the amount of aluminum used and thus the weight. I would highly recommend the reel for the anglers constantly casting.

2. Smooth: Working the reel feels smooth and solid. I did not feel any...

littlebobolittlebobo: Loved the look and price of this reel and the spec looked amazing, ordered and prayed it was as good as it sounded. Well it certainly was, lovely clutch that i have had purring on a number of occassions. I have well and truly tested this reel out on some rugged coastline chasing wrasse. On one session i landed 20 ballan wrasse to over 4lb from deep snaggy gullies, the reel handled these powerful fish easily. I am buying another of these reels and have nothing negative to say about them.

Mark: I ordered the 1000 size reel and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The weight is so low it's like it's barely attached to the rod. I went out fishing with my brother and he commented on it's good looks too. I have another much more expensive Shimano reel and the drag on this is a lot smoother. Bear in mind if you are using braid, when you tie the initial knot to the spool to get the line on there, make sure to secure the original knot on the spool with a little bit of tape. I would buy another one of these in the morning!
