Richie B: This reel has caught me over a dozen muskellunge. I would rate it as reliable as a Tranx but at approximately 1/4 the price. This reel has powerful drag and a great retrieve. I’ve purchased two 300 sized with single handles, left handed.

Cons:
- the handle will come loose due to the glue on the plastic screw going bad. This is fixable if you can confidently use glue. Worst case scenario, you buy a new handle.

That being said, Big Con (why it’s 4 and not 5 stars):

- The handle not being counter balanced has led me to bounce some super heavy lures off of the boat potentially causing damage.

Bottom line: buy this reel and buy a counter balanced handle. You’ll still be nearly $200 less poor than if you bought the name brand.

Can’t really find many serious reviews over this item so I got you guys. I’m an avid fisherman and have used my fair share of baitcast reels. Ranging from abu Garcia black max- diawai Lexa 300s. To say this reel is amazing for the money is an understatement. I have caught good sized pike so far, and have hooked into some chinooks with this reel and it cranks hard. It works amazing. I will say the the lure adjustment knob on the right is a little weak. You need pliers to tighten it to heavier lures over an Oz, BUT if you can get over that and know how to use a bait caster it shouldn’t honestly be that much of an issue. For 100.00ish, it’s so worth it. I will be buying more in tue future for sure and may try some lighter tackle as well. I’m very impressed. If you’re on the edge of buying this real, buy it. It’s as good as most 300 size reels, and it’s hundreds of dollars less. Only modification I would and will make and maybe suggestion if available is the power handle isn’t good constant casting and reeling but easily fixable by changing the handle to what you want. 5/5.Can’t really find many serious reviews over this item so I got you guys. pmac: I'm not a super experienced fisherman. I replaced a reel that was OK but didn't use (right hand retrieve). I find this has a way smoother operation and I have experienced a lot fewer bird's nests with this reel right form the outset. I also find that I'm able to cast at least 30% further. I'm not sure that I have increased my catch rate, probably not the reel.

Only 4 stars as I've had it only a short while.

Alice GoddardAlice Goddard: I own 2 of these reels. Both with the 8/1 ratio. Have matched them with Daiwa harrier rods ( M and ML). I can just fit a 300 yard spool of 30lb dextron kastking on them. I mention the brands because this the combo I went with and think I hit one out of the park. Have been using this combo lingcod and rockfish jigging off reefs up to 500 ft deep. I’m enjoying using such a light rod and reel, as the bigger reels in the picture next to them are used for the same thing. Yes the bigger reels hold more line, but this reel holds plenty if your willing to go down in test. Trust me 30 lb braid is plenty strong. The 8/1 ratio is nice as I’m fishing as deep as 500 ft. These are big rockfish and nice lings, pulling doubles and triples some times and the reel handles it fine. I owned one of the 2 reels for over a year. The only problem I’ve had is the knob for the handle came off. The screw that holds it fell out. I pushed it back on and will find another screw or use some glue. It’s not an issue for me, nor do I feel it changes my review. Just pointing it out.
