Daniela Mattos-Turcinov: I spend 40 days reading this book, I constantly organized my day in a way that would allow me to spend time reading this book. The way Alexander Dumas describes the people, personalities, events, places is so fabulous that every time I was reading the book I was transported to the 19th century in France/Italy… I cried, I laugh and I loved every single moment. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves reading meaningful stories that will teach you lessons. I wish I could put more stars to the rating. Merci M. Dumas for this a masterpiece ❤️

calBear: This is my favorite book, no need to mention the content, best story! This version is really good quality so I want to keep it in my collection. It does have the sticker at the back that others mentioned, though I decided to keep it instead of peeling it off to damage the cloth cover.

Amazon Customer: Nice book. Good translation. Great print quality. I was a bit bummed because they stuck this stupid price tag thing on it's back- an absolute travesty to do to a beautiful clothbound book like this.

Great translation, fine cloth bound cover. Not a huge fan of the green and red together and they love to put stickers on these penguin classics that peel off the imprints and leave sticky, discolored residue. Stop doing that.
Seriously though, the book is phenomenal. Literally life changing. My close friends and family are probably going crazy from me talking about it non-stop. I never would have imagined I could read a nearly 1300 page, nearly 200 years old, classic novel so fast. I went from Les Miserables to this-- the former took me two years and the latter 2 weeks.
It is a masterpiece of story telling, and archetypal in its portrayal of the dangerous venture of justice and revenge. Even as a seemingly God-like Edmond Dantes' vengeance is complete and perfected, we see its futility and inability to make himself or anyone else whole. But no conclusion is that easy. This book is a wrestle with the responsibility of finite mortals in their quest for truth, justice, and fairness. How far should you go? How far can you go? And what effect will it have on your soul?
Also worth noting- we need every last word to fully grasp it. I strongly...

Giacomo Saccone: Ça fait vraiment la peine d’avoir l’étiquette avec le prix sur le dos. Pourquoi pas dedans? Pourquoi pas ailleurs? Sur une feuille reportée?

M. Camponella: Livro lindo .Não veio com a etiqueta presa no livro não. Ao invés disso veio adesivada no papel celofane que envolve o livro….

LA in Dallas:
I'm going to cheat and review four books together: Le Comte de Monte-Cristo, Les trois mousquetaires, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Three Musketeers. Of course, that is really just two books, since the latter two are English translations of the first two. I read these in High School, first in English translation, and they quickly became my very favorite novels. (The first time I read The Three Musketeers I had no idea of the correct pronunciation of d'Artagnan, and our hero's name was a major roadblock.) I of course read all the d’Artagnan Romances. They're full of action and adventure.
Later I read them in French, which astonishes me now. I took three years of high-school French. If you have ever read a book in a foreign language (by which I mean a language you first learned in school), you know that it is, at the start, a slow business. Les trois mousquetaires was a major project -- it took months. (I am retroactively impressed that at the age of fifteen I had the perseverance to stick to such a project.) But, if indeed you have read books in foreign languages, you know that this is exactly the kind of book to start with: something exciting and...

Ryan Steenson: Long before superhero graphic novels, and their various adaptions, depicted antiheroes, Alexandre Dumas created the forerunner to such enigmatic characters with the Count of Monte Cristo. This is by far the definitive translation of such a classic adventure. Highly recommend.
