DIY Mom: These are an excellent alternative to traditional dispensers. They look sleek and modern but I’m not sure how they would hold up with excessive use. I have a small school and they work quite well. We used the heavy duty command strips rather than drilling holes.

This unit looks nice and helps my crappy Hawaiian kitchen look better.

Having a few industrial paper towel dispensers (in shop and truck) I wanted to use these same towels at home and picked up his unit.

I mounted the unit and loaded a brick (for lack of better word) of Costco Marathon towels in the dispenser, after dozens of shredded towels I took half of the paper out.
There must be a fix for this, being a handyman I tried to figure it out. Looking at my other two dispensers I realized the weight was loaded on a small footprint instead of a flat even load

I took some scrap hardwood and cut to length to fit the unit, now the towels are loaded on the edge and with a quick/easy pull the towel breaks free without ripping.
It works perfectly now.

I’ve since glued these pieces in place and wanted to share.
For those without scrap wood sitting around, I’m thinking you could try some chopsticks…everyone has a set in the “stuff” drawer.

Lori Watt: I normally have a hand towel, but during cold and flu season I will swap in a roll of paper towels for the bathroom. Well, with COVID, I decided that communal cloth towels are not wise anymore but that I did not want traditional paper towels in the bathroom since you often have to touch the rest of the roll to grab one AND because people are hoarding them, so sometimes they are hard to find. Tri-fold paper towels are easy to come by at my local warehouse club--and comparatively cheaper too--so I decided to go with this style of dispenser. I mounted it to the wall over the hole were my hand towel ring sued to be. It looks very nice. I will say, that I can only load about 1/ 3 of the package of tri-fold towels because any more than that and the weight of them makes it hard for the towels to easily pop-out of the bottom since the wood has some texture to it. Not a biggie, but worth mentioning...it actually looks nicer with fewer towels loaded since you cannot see the towels from the top if you only load 1/3 of the package.
