ghosty: I wanted to upgrade my old paper towel holder because I hated having to use both hands to rip a piece off the roll. This one is definitely an upgrade looks-wise, but I found you have to rip it a certain way to only get one piece at a time. The tension arm that touches the paper towel isn't rubber/silicone, so you you have to rip it the right way or you will end up unrolling your paper towels. Overall it's a nice piece to have in the kitchen once you figure out the trick to ripping off one piece at a time.
