SingerMom: I bought this paper towel holder because it's exactly what was there before and I did not want to put a new screw holes when the old one broke. It's made out of cheap plastic and it's very tight on the paper towel roll, which is why the past one broke. We will see how long this one lasts. I might have to break down and drill do holes in order to get a better holder.

NuclearCryptoHardwareGeek: A lot of folks want to know whether this can be installed with existing holes. Here's the engineer's answer.

I bought the clear version in April 2023. The holes are obround (oval) .360" long by .200" wide, on 5-21/32" (5.656") centers, so they will accommodate existing holes ranging from 5-15/32" to 5-27/32" center-to-center (assuming #8 screws).

For completeness: The screws provided are #8 (.165" OD) x 1" phillips pan-head.

Folks also want to know whether "jumbo" rolls will fit. The short answer is yes. The engineer's answer is:

At rest, the distance is 11-3/16" between the end caps to accommodate U.S.-standard 11" rolls. The posts are 1-3/8" diameter and 3/8" long, with their centers 3-3/8" from the inside surface of the frame. Since the paper roll inside diameter is about 1-5/8", any roll up to 7" outside diameter will definitely fit with only slight rubbing.

There are also complaints that rolls pull out or fall out of the holder, and these are justified. Even a nominal-width (11") roll positioned against one cap will only have 3/16" of purchase on the post at the other end, and since the frame material is pretty flexible, it's easy to bend it...

RalphaelRalphael: I guess what I like most about this paper towel holder is that it has a cap on each end that fits into the paper towel. In fact I didn't realize how fantastic that is until now because the paper towel doesn't wobble in the holder unlike all the other paper towel holders that I bought; all of them are simple pole that the paper towel just swivels all over the place. I just thought it looks really good mounted on the side of my mirror cabinet in the washroom. Now that I have reviewed this paper towel holder I will be buying another one to replace the one that I bought for the kitchen which is just a bar that allows the paper towel to unravel itself. Good job "Spectrum Diversified Pantry works Mug Holder Chrome?" paper towel holder!!
