Gioia: The best thing, well, two things, about this paper towel holder are that 1) the large rolls fit just fine and 2) if the roll is securely held (don't have the arms too far away - leave them as close together that still allows the roll to move freely) you can pull a sheet off using just one hand.

I've been using this for a few months now and the hardest thing to get used to is that the paper towels are no longer attached to the door under the sink but stuck to the refrigerator. Every once in awhile, I still start to open the cupboard door before remembering the new location.

technopagan: I think this was a really great buy. This is a review for the two-piece set.

At my last place, I had the single-piece style, where both magnets were attached to a single base. You'd slip the roll over a long rod, and it wouldn't be secured at one of the ends. The magnets held fine, but the bar never felt sturdy, and some rolls were too large for it.

I like this style with the two pieces much more, in which the two ends of the roll are each secured. I have placed this on a steel fuse box door on the wall in my kitchen, about six feet high. The magnets grip very strongly, and don't budge without me making a deliberate effort.

It takes two hands to pull one magnet off of the door to put up a new roll of paper towels. I do use two hands when I pull a towel from the roll, but this isn't because I need to hold the thing up. It doesn't fall. One hand pulls the towel, and the other hand keeps the rest of the roll from spinning and unraveling. I can definitely rip off just one paper towel one-handed. If I needed a second, I'd buy this one again. Definitely recommend it.

L. Mountford: I tend to purchase large paper towel rolls (you know, the ones that use words like "mega" or "jumbo"). And due to a (severe!) lack of counter space, I needed a holder that I could mount on the fridge door. I think I probably looked at 50 or so versions, and finally decided on this one due its ability to accommodate the larger rolls.

No problems at all with this. The magnets are super strong, so it adheres to the door securely. It holds my favorite "mega" roll brand just fine. Due to some recent health issues, I can only cook while seated, so I have this mounted at the proper height so I can reach it easily. And I've worked out the way to retrieve a single sheet with one hand: 1) find the perforations and using one hand, tear about 2" slit. 2) grab the paper towel just below the slit and jerk quickly. Comes off cleanly every time and with only one hand.

This was definitely a good purchase for me -- works great, nice quality, and the "look" goes with other kitchen items.
