Shakey Town: Review of: FGO - Organic Cacao Nibs | Premium Criollo Beans from Peru | 8oz Resealable Bag
I’ve never had cacao nibs before so I can’t say that I knew what to expect from the FGO brand or Cacao Nib; but I can say that I consider myself to be a real ‘choco-holic’ so I was more than on-board for trying them out.
What I found was that when eating them straight out of the bag, the Nibs are definitely crunchy but not to the point where they are so hard that I worry they are too hard for my teeth. As for taste, right out of the bag, I found that these Nibs to definitely have the taste of a true bitter, unsweetened chocolate; that isn’t necessarily bad as I semi-enjoyed them as-is.
To make these Nibs really shine, however, I found in my multiple taste tests that they work really well when added to hot items, such as tea or coffee or, better yet, some hot milk. When added to the hot liquid the Nibs soften up nicely enough and become somewhat more chewy and that does make for what I consider to be a treat. The Nibs don’t become as soft as milk chocolate pieces, of course, but still the texture is a nice change of pace.
