Thursday: This is delicious cacao to mix with protein shakes, to make hot chocolate more chocolatey. I add milk, honey and cacao and make a wonderful fall drink.

Garret Wilson: I specifically chose this company's product because, based upon the reviews and comments here, the company seemed to be transparent about its testing of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.

Unfortunately when I requested test results for the lot I received via email, they ignored me. So a week later I tried to contact them via the site, and that's when they merged both of the requests (the new one and the one they had ignored), and said basically "we'll get back to you". It wasn't until almost a week later of practically begging that they finally provided me heaving metal tests results. Will I have to go through such pain with every order in the future?

And the test results are not really helpful. First let's review lead and cadmium levels to avoid. While there is no safe amount of lead and cadmium intake, the California OEHHA sets maximum daily amounts at:

lead: maximum 0.5 mcg/day (California OEHHA)
cadmium: maximum 4.1 mcg/day (California OEHHA)

Here are the test results from Viva Naturals (keep in mind that "ppm" and "mcg/g" mean the same thing):

lead: < 0.1 ppm (Viva Naturals)
cadmium: < 1.0 ppm (Viva Naturals)

Amazon Gal: I was originally thinking that regular cocoa powder was the same as cacao powder. Not so—cacao is not highly refined, so it retains more nutrients. (I can use all the nutrients I can get at my age lol). Didn’t think there was going to be a big taste difference but there was a noticeable, more delicious taste in my opinion. I use unsweetened almond milk, (warm up a lot first so powder will dissolve by stirring) then add Now Organic monk fruit liquid sweetener and a dollop of half and half, for a delicious and healthier (in my opinion!) version of hot chocolate.

Tonya: These are great tasting good quality nibs. They are priced well. The bag is sturdy but the zipper seal could be better. It won't "seal". No matter how many times you close it, it isn't locked. Not a huge deal for me, I've ordered these repeatedly anyway cause they are great quality at a great price. Seem fresh. I've had no issues with "shells" that I saw in other reviews..... and I've gotten probably 3-4 bags now. Of course they aren't suppose to be just like chocolate though, they are cacao nibs. I think some ppl don't know what they are meant to be like.

DeeDee: I have tried other organic cocoa and cacao powders but decided to try this one even though it is a tad expensive.
I found it to be extremely good! I love the texture, colour is as expected, lighter than cocoa powder but it has an amazing chocolate flavour which is great for drinks and baking! I am glad I tried it and hope someday it will be on sale. I do intend to buy it again as my go to cacao

Joy Richards: I use it for making chocolate cakes, and it's the most important ingredient. Unfortunately, only the Dutch and the French seem to have figured out how to do it, because most cocoa powder available in North America is just not right. And I see that this is a "Product of the Netherlands and France", packaged in the US, and imported into Canada.
