It worked straight away with no problems I have only given it 4 stars because the price is way to much for a device of this kind . I have a Onkyo TX NR 515

nickymoore: I found it slightly difficult to get it working. I do not know why... The automatic set up option on it (press the key on your router, and press OK on the Hi Fi Remote Control) never worked. It could not connect.
I gave it two three four attempts on the enter the key manual option - it did not work either. I reckon it has got less to do with this, and more to do with the impenetrable way the display is set out on the Onkyo receivers.
After the last attempt the thing connected, and I have left it well alone. It connects. It works. It works a treat.

Pete: This Onkyo wireless adapter is currently performing flawlessly on a Onkyo TX-NR525 Receiver. I was hesitant about this product before buying because I had seen a few comments about range. I have no doubt that there could be interference if there are large quantities of networks around combined with lots of walls, but I've seen no issues. In my situation the wireless router is in a small office room around the corner from an open room and the receiver is in an oak cabinet around the corner from that room. Line-of-sight wise, the signal has to go through the cabinet and two walls a total of about 40 feet.
The adapter has so far been reliable 100% of the time. Streaming functions as well as app control from a phone work great ans everything is responsive. No issues with having to unplug it or restart the receiver. I think if you use it in an environment that it was designed for and realize it is small and not overly powerful, it should work fine for you. I would recommend.

Mack165: I purchased the Onkyo wireless lan Adapter in order to connect my Onkyo network receiver to my internet. My receiver as yet is not able to connect. I suspect that the problem is that it does not see the router and I have just purchased a D-link DAP-1320 range extender. I trust this will correct my problem when I get around to being able to work on it.

Oldham4: This is a simple, worthwhile upgrade for compatible Onkyo receivers.
I chose to utilize the rear USB port on my TX-NR717 and have had no problems with it working. I even have it surrounded by other wireless devices(TV, Blu-ray, Xbox, Wii, AppleTV)in my setup that haven't prevented it from working. I will admit that the signal strength is indicated at 50%, but that hasn't been a problem because I'm only streaming Pandora and modifying volume levels, zone activation, etc.
I like that I can leave the receive on network standby mode & turn it on elsewhere in the house through the associated iPhone application. Unlike other reviewers of the iPhone app, I have not had any crashing problems. Perhaps this is because I chose to setup the Onkyo receiver with a fixed IP address on my network rather than have it utilize DHCP. It only makes sense to me to limit variables to ensure that there is constant connectivity.
Hope this helps!

2 cents: *UPDATE* 12/4/12
This product continues to work fine for me. I haven't had any issues connecting with the Onkyo since my initial WiFi connection using this device.

After reading the negative reviews from others that warned about this small unit (who knew such a small piece of equipment could cause so many headaches?!), I decided to go ahead and take a gamble with this product. I must say, I ran into some of the exact some issues that others have mentioned. In the end, with a little patience, research, and luck, I was able to get the unit to work. Here is the process I took.
First off, when I plugged the wireless adapter into the NR509 (I followed the manuals instructions through this whole process), I decided to go with a manual connection. The receiver allows you to choose between a manual connection (basically entering in your router's info and password after the receiver locates the router) or an automatic connection (entering a PIN code or pressing a WSP button to initialize connection through the router). When I began the manual connection, multiple wireless routers that were present appeared, including mine. I selected my wireless router (it's...

Jamta Re: Worth the price. My wireless router is upstairs in one corner of the loft. My receiver is downstairs in the living room. This little gem connects with the network with no issues. Gets reasonable signal strength to play internet radio without any disruption (what more can you ask for??). I have a 2.4 Ghz wireless G network, have not tried with N and 5Ghz. I am buying a new router next month, will update the review if I see issues.
And what I like also is this adaper is so small, it blends into your receiver setup (both being black) and doesn't look odd at all. In fact, I have a 1.5 yrs toddler at home and despite the receiver being close to floor, she has not messed around with it ('cause it is not so easy for a toddler to pull it out). Overall great buy, even though its little expensive.

Just came across this item "POWERLINK PL-8188CUS MicroN". On 24 Jan it was selling for 7 bucks on mWave dotcom! Yep, unbelievable price for a wireless N adapter. It looks very similar to Onkyo adapter and has similar specs. Check it out before you buy Onkyo adapter.

Yoav: It's only a wireless adapter for the Onkyo TX-NR609, so there's nothing much to tell.
Hooked it to the receiver and it was identified immediately. However, I couldn't connect it to my wireless network.
Turns out that an updated firmware of the receiver was necessary.
Speed is very good. Streaming radio stations as well as the very cool AUPEO service without any issues on my slow and old Wireless G network connected with 5 Megabit broadband.
Just BTW, for all you buyers out there, if you try updating firmware for the Onkyo receiver from a USB stick, you have to:
1. use a very simple USB stick. The receiver cannot work with SanDisk USB sticks for example (found that the hard way)...
2. Use a FAT32 formatted USB stick. Onkyo won't read NTFS.
Good luck.
