Amazon Customer: This book is for you if you have or know someone with a child challenged with ADHD, or Autism, or Epilepsy, or food allergies. It is also for you if you have a child without these challenges or if you were a child without these challenges, or if you were once a child. It's a really great read if you are particularly interested in food and nutrition or if you are not interested or if you regularly consume food or know and love someone who does. In short, this book is for you!
I bought this book about a year ago and had trouble getting through it quick enough ( motherhood has resulted in me falling fast asleep upon sitting for longer than 4 min) so I bought the CD version a few months later. I would highly suggest getting both! The CDs are great for riding around, doing errands to and fro and allows you to digest the information little bits at a time. The paperback is great to look back on when you want a little clarification or to remember a specific point.

Pati: I've been reading books on Paleo, Omega 3 and 6, and more for nearly 6 years. This is one of the most well organized and well written. I've read about most of what is in the book during my journey, but this is the best. You don't have to have children to learn from this book, but if you do have children, it is a must read. It is also a bit of a history of the American food industry during the 20th century. Some the "progress" was not so good for us. My favorite sentence that wraps it all up is, "You are what you eat eats." That covers both plants and animals. Some of our industrial food practices are disgusting. That is all I will say. I felt the science and research was well done. I have changed my approach to food!

Amazon Customer: As the mother of an autistic child, I thought I had read it all when it came to childhood nutrition, but I was refreshingly surprised by this book. The Dirt Cure brings us back to the basics of what humans inherently know and crave for nourishment, yet we've all been increasingly dumbed down and sanitized by big business, crooked industries and yes, our government. Dr. Shetreat-Klein breaks everything down in easy-to-understand, scientifically tested and historically documented facts. Some of the information is eye-opening and downright scary - reminiscent of The Jungle and Fast Food Nation. The overall message is very simple, but the knowledge that Dr. Shetreat-Klein shares allows us to truly understand why we, as a nation need to stand up for clean food and water and get back to living the way we were intended to live. I bought the book for my Nook and then bought two hard-copies to share with friends and family - excellent baby shower gift. EVERY PARENT SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Amazon Customer: This book is absolutely amazing! I can't put it down!
I am so happy to have found a book that had all the information I was looking for in one place.
For all mothers, with or without children with special needs! It's a MUST read!
It's a relief to see that there are medical practionners out there that look at the whole child, not just the area of concern. As a mother of a 2 year old with undiagnosed developmental delay, I assure you, this book has greatly helped me in my search for the cause of her multiple issues.
Thank you Dr Shetreat-Klein!
