Ann Keeran: A book for all ages. For the young to see what is possible, for most of us to see what will never be. A beautiful story.

Dorothy: Beautifully told love story. The anguish of youth, young love, differing stations of life and wealth keeping them apart. Finally, a graphic description of Alzheimer's that was too hard for me to read.

Fluffybreeze: I am 60 years old, and I never saw the movie or read the book. Until now.
I have been with my husband for nearly 40 years, and the love story of Allie and Noah is timeless.
My bonus Dad has a different form of dementia than Alzheimer’s, but I watch my mother struggle to remember everything for both of them.
I am normally eloquent with my reviews, but I’m too emotional to even see my keyboard right now due to this stellar story.
Thank you, Nicholas Sparks, for telling a tale that captures the passion of young love, the all-consuming obsession of true love, and the ultimate peace of the soul of eternal love.

Kindle Customer: I was told to read the book before attempting to see the movie. The vivid description of things, events and the surroundings by the author was so surreal and surprising.

RG: I enjoyed the first half, the 2 main characters were endearing and well described.
The love aspect was repetitive and a bit tedious in as much as the prose was over the top syrupy.
The second half suddenly changed tack which was quite a surprise, really found it a bit tedious.
The biggest shock was how suddenly it finished, I felt a bit cheated but in fairness the story had nowhere to go.

JD: Young requited love, what do they know? Sexual desire satisfied. Author pushes the emotional button to get reader to sympathize with the situation, even draws tears but lust still steals the day. I enjoyed the book and saw the movie but just so dissatisfied with people giving in to lust. Love eventually comes.

Mrs Helen S Leecy: I love The Notebook film so much (probably like most women!). It’s hard to describe why maybe because it is a feel-good movie along with being utterly heartbreaking. It is so full of emotion and the perfect Romantic film!
So, I decided to give the book a read; I hadn’t even realised it was based on a book until I was doing the research for my Reading Challenge ‘a book made into a movie you’ve already seen’. I’m not a big lover of reading the book after seeing the film; I’d much rather do it the other way around. I figured, though, I couldn’t go much wrong with this choice and it only being 215 pages if it were terrible it wouldn’t take me long to read! I definitely couldn’t go wrong with the book; it was just as amazing as the film.
The two run very well in parallel; there isn’t a lot different between the two, other than the order it is all presented to you. In the film it is more chronological, we see Allie and Noah meet, forced apart and the reunion etc. However, in the book, it is a little more reminiscing involved, so the timeline isn’t as fluid. I can certainly see why certain things were adapted for cinematic storytelling. It wasn’t hard to...

BuffyBoo: The Notebook is a difficult book to review. I have seen the film, which I absolutely loved, and which is now one of my all time favourite romance flicks. As I read the book I could only imagine the characters as they were in the film. Fortunately for me, this was fine as I think the actors are great, and now I have also read the book, a perfect match for Allie and Noah.

I also had difficulty with reading the actual story that was told within the pages. I kept filling in the blanks with scenes from the film. I think this was because the book didn't show the whole story of Allie and Noah, just the part where they see each other again after many years apart. The young romance we are shown in the movie are just fleeting memories and flashbacks in the book. The movie gives us a lot more detail of certain times in Allie and Noah's life that weren't actually developed fully in the book.

The Notebook is a very quick read at only 189 pages and a part of me wishes that it was a lot longer. I wish the book showed us the story of young Allie and Noah and let us live and feel their romance and passion and what it meant to them. The fact they fell in love again after fourteen...
