Catherine Stappenbeck: The characters had great development. I loved the way the book was written, one chapter at a time, moving from past to present. Good transitions each time. I enjoyed the build up to the ending and the resolution of questions asked early on.

TyndaFlat: Dual time line with all of the right ingredients. Very enjoyable reading, plenty of twists, very descriptive so easy to relate.

Janet Cleaver: I thought it was quite good but I didn't like the tooing and frowing between years and there was too many characters, by the end if the story I was so confused I didn't know who married who and who had who's baby

Reel Life Photos: This story was helped out by the genealogy table, and though interesting to a point, I still found it to be a slow burner. The characters are credible, but the abrupt ending left me feeling there could have been more to the story.

Kindle-Kunde: Trigger Warning: This book contains a very descriptive rape scene & mention of other violent crimes. I think that’s important to start of with and it’s not really a spoiler.

Despite of how unnecessary I found that the rape scene was described, I enjoyed Winter Cottage almost as much as Spring House. Both books are deeply connected to one another and I would recommend reading this first, than Spring House. Most characters have been through a hell lot, but it’s still a realistic charming story between present and past, a family’s most darkest and joyful moments, all becoming history, leaving marks in all lives involved. I truthfully enjoy the intertwined connections between the couple of families in the village.

Lynnie: Engaging characters and an interesting story. I enjoyed the book a lot, even though the plot got a bit lost in the middle and then cantered to a conclusion.
